New Toyota Corolla & Volkswagen Jetta launch dates in India?

Does anyone know when the New Toyota Corolla and the Volkswagen Jetta are being launched here in India?

Been reading all over since beginning of this year that they will be coming sometime in May/June, but the showrooms here refuse to confirm.

Drove the new Corolla in Dubai in January earlier this yr and loved it, looks much better now. Think they may jack the price up by a lakh for the new one, not sure though

The Old Corolla has some seriosu deals going on at all showroom, so its plausible that they are getting rid of all old stock which is smart, prob the same reason why they arent disclosing the launch date of the new one.

Was actually going to purchase the Skoda Laura but put off the decision for the new Corolla/Jetta once launched

Any idea what petrol engine are they launching in Jetta.. I am hoping they bring the 2.0 T FSI engine.. would deffinately be vehicle on burning wheels.

with various mods available from remap to big turbo kit.. even the 1.4T petrol should be one too look out for. With 2.0T FSI am sure it would be one niche product to vouch for.

I checked up with toyota people today in Karnal Globe toyota. They say that they have not been informed about the launch yet but will be around diwali.

The new Corolla is alright, but I'm really looking forward to see the new Jetta in India.

I really hope they don't overprice it though.

ACI says New Corrolla will launch in the next 2 - 3 months. Jetta I am not sure of.

Not sure.
AutoCar India has been long reporting that the new Corolla will be coming in August. Jetta is expected in July.
But it would be nice if both Toyota and VW dont overprice and bring it on time with proper engines ( read at least diesel engine option for both ).

I confirmed with a dealer in hyderabad abt jetta release .. its july 15th

New Corolla is coming in the 1st week of August.

News from other countries where the new Corolla has been launched is that it has not been able to dethrone the Civic; at least not as yet. Let's see what happens in India in August

I hope VW should increase its dealership nos, before they launch a car like this, which many may try to buy.

OR, Can't they sell them through Skoda sales point? ;-) I hope Jetta could become a Laura killer.

Wonder if Jetta can compete with Laura with the 1.9 diesel engine...if I remember correctly somene posted that this is the same engine which is serving Octy in India...

July 15 2008? There are barely any VW dealers in the country and neither is the company opening new dealerships. They have just one dealer in Mumbai! Forget Honda and Toyota, how will they compete with their own Skoda with such miniscule number of dealerships?

Off topic: One quick and cheap way to widen their dealership network would be to make all Skoda dealerships into Skoda-VW ones.
