my friend dont you think i would know that the 525 and 530 are out?
as for the diesel crv and accord. i didnt say they werent coming. i said they werent coming soon.
Sorry to rain on the parade , but diesel seems unlikely as per this letter

Since this is a public letter , i assume that it is fair use to upload it. If the mods feel that it infringes copyright, please removeplease:
@greenhorn, It was the same Honda who said there will be no changes to NHC ZX (before they launched the 10th Anniversary edition) - A couple of months after the announcement, the 10th Ann edition was launched.
I am not sure what others feel, I never trust any communication from Honda management.
Thats plain corporate talk and ought to be taken with a liberal pinch of salt.

Can they actually do that? It looks like a honda official statement and not just any news article.
Yes, indeed.
The latest Autocar says that a V6 version of the current Accord will be launched in mid-09. It will come loaded with VCM(Variable Cylinder Management), which means it'll have the advantage of blistering performance (271bhp/34.28kgm of torque) and half decent mileage!
In addition, they are also bringing the Accord diesel which has been on sale in Europe and the US for a very long time now. It will be a 2.2litre i-Cdti engine, churning out 148 bhp/35.6 kgm, and will hopefully have great FE figures, as is expected of it
The magazine states the ex-showroom price to be 22-24 lacs.
Wow, It will be a great deal at 22-24 lkhs. The new accord simply looks awesome in metal. A great car and superb road presence, stunning looks and now with a diesel engine tooo. Thats like a cherry on top.
I had once seen the spy pics of honda crv testing with a irde badge on back, so I though it will be the first one from honda stable to come out with a diesel motor. Whichever be it, we are waiting for honda diesel
it was I-CDTI as far as i know, irde is something new.

I didn't know they had an Accord diesel in the US.

Yeah, i-ctdi is already outdated. The new diesels use i-dtec engines. Unlike i-vtec which stands for "intelligent - variable valve timing and lift electronic control", i-dtec simply means "intelligent - diesel technology".
Btw, heres something the i-ctdi engine was known for -

I really hope they give us the Euro Accord they were recently testing in India.
Shan2nu
Considering the lack of success of the previous V6, I'd presume that engine ain't no priority for Honda. I don't know of too many Accord owners who were short of power anyways. If Honda really wants to rock the D-segment, the fab new diesel is what the Accord needs. Competitive pricing, Honda reliability, low ownership costs and a torquey-efficient diesel will blow 'em all away!
P.S. : The V6 should be sold ONLY with a slick 6-speed manual.

HOW is 24 lacs for a Honda Accord a
Great Deal ???
Anyway I guess I'll have to watch out for this Accord Diesel with keen interest, now that GTO's other thread has blown away any Passat hopes :D
It seems a routine now .. Indians have to pay $50,000 for any half decent car sold elsewhere.
I dont think the v6 will make it but there are a lot of chances for the 2.2ictdi to come as honda must have realised that deisel is the one which sells more in India
Even though i would want the 3.5 to come in as well but then.
HONDA - HOPE YOU ARE READING THIS.
the last time ACI mentioned Honda and diesel in the same sentence, there was a letter from some PR guy in honda claiming there was no such thing. I'd love to see him eat his words :D
