I dont think Speed 93 is available anywhere. According to my source in BPCL it was stopped quite some time back.
Which one is 93 octane?
i dont think abhinav is using speed 93. i think its ioc or something?
Ahh, that would at least make it less painful!
The increase in normal petrol was 4-5 Rs while in Speed 97 it is 8 Rs
The one i am using is not premium ( Premium is 54.5)
I'm feeling a bit better performance with the 93
Its not available with IOC
IOC had it named IOC 93
I get it from BPCL next to IOC ( Near Ashoka Hotel )]
Here is a list of stations having Speed 93
Speed 93
Read the last line on this page:
BPCL SPEED 97
The website hasn't been updated.

IOC does have 93 octane petrol at very few places.
I get it filled from the IOC bunk near/between - Chanakyapuri/Vasant Vihar. Don't remember the name.
Right, so not only did BP raise the price of Speed 97 by Rs. 10/- per litre some months ago as against Rs. 3/- per litre for lower octane petrol, but now when the price of crude oil has gone down by $100 per barrel, they have left the price of Speed 97 at Rs. 70/- per litre.
There's got to be a way to fight this BLATANT robbery. This fuel may be "branded" but it is still an essential commodity, just because it is purer and has an additive does not make it a luxury commodity.

I beg to differ. There should be no price control on fuels, especially branded fuels. It should be purely market driven. If you think its expensive, no one is stopping you from buying from non-BP petrol companies !
It has still not gone down?
It was 70 Rs a litre before the price drop here in Delhi. Will confirm the new prices here in a day or two !

There is no "market" when only one company provides a certain grade of fuel, it's a monopoly. You also realise that some cars only run on a certain grade of fuel, so in this instance there is no choice in the matter.

I know that the rates have remained unchanged in Bombay. Gassed-up both before the rate cut and after, no change in price.
Run on 91 or Speed and use octane boosters. It may now work out cheaper.
So the question then is: Which octane booster? How much? How long does it take to mix in a tank of fuel? Where do you get the least adulterated Speed?
At the end of the day, I can't see myself doing all that because I'd still be afraid that the fuel would cause problems with the car!
OK, beginning to sound like a cracked record, but once again the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs. 5/- a litre and STILL Speed 97 is Rs. 70/- per litre.
So let's see, in May 2008, the cost of Speed was Rs. 53.7 per litre and Speed 97 was Rs. 60 per litre.
Then the prices went up. I recall that the state taxes were reduced to limit the increase in fuel cost and that the newly raised prices were slightly reduced due to this. This did not happen in the case of Speed 97. Then we had a price cut of Rs. 5/- per litre and again the price of Speed 97 stayed at 70/-. Now in Jan 09, the prices have again been reduced by Rs. 5/- per litre, which should bring the cost to below what it was in May 2008 (because, in fact, crude oil is also MUCH cheaper now than it was in May 2008) and STILL the cost of Speed 97 is Rs. 70/- per litre.
Does anybody have the details on the dates the price of petrol were raised / lowered along with the exact cost?
