Read in Business Stantand that GM is planning to assemble Captiva SUV in Halol GUjurat , instead of brinking it down as CBU kit imports?
Does it means that it is a price reductions for buyers ?
BY what % ( approx / guestimate) will the price drop if it is assembled ?
IMO the Captiva is the best looking SUV currently being sold in India, under the Rs 20L price bracket.
Hopefully with this move they should be able to sell it even cheaper and we should be able to see more Captiva's on Indian roads and on T-bhp forum.
Good news. But with no respite in rising fuel prices need to watch out for the fate of these fuel guzzlers.
If this means they'll price it at GV levels or at worst the entry reaches of the CRV, it'll be worth the price then.
I am sure some one who is going to shell out more than 15 lakhs on set of wheels will be least bothered about its fuel efficiency when on a diesel diet. I am sure it gives about 9km/liter and above. That thing pulls like a locomotive as I found out yesterday when coming back from work in my GTX. From 0 to 60 I can thrash it but above that I am gasping for breath trying to change to lower gears hoping that the 98 horses will come to my rescue but to no avail. I am going to get myself a Magnum base version one of these days when GM comes out with a celebration offer a la SPARK and also fixes the oil sump issue. There has not been any price drops on the Magnum which they are probably putting off till the TOYOTA Corrolla 2.4D is launched if at all.
Thats fantastic. Definitely one of the best looking SUVs around, after the GV.
Thats great news. This certainly means more healthy competetion in the SUV segment. Even if they are able reduce the cost of vehicle by 2 % OTR, then it means some competetion for Honda CR-V that it had never faced.
i think it is outrageously priced, considering that has daewoo roots.
It is definately worth over the GV if priced same. The car surely does look good and might give CRV a run for its money.I think even honda should consider building the CRV here now.
this is great news...but WHEN? Is the key question.
Do you have a link to the article?
It definatly wouldnt be priced at GV pricing but we can expect it to be priced around the 2.0 CRV or the Endeavour.
Would be wise to launch with a facelifted version. Although I think it looks smart on the front but the rear should be improved.
Competition just got stronger for the Outlander, its about time HM launchs it !

On my recent test drive of Civic, the driver from the company, who had just returned from Delhi plant of Honda informed that they will soon make CRV in India. It was a simple conversation, so I don't give too much waitage to this. But it sounds very practical, seeing the response to CRV in India and they increasing their capacity.
GM and Honda preparing for Toyota.

Launch is scheduled for next month Sahil.
I think Indian carmakers want some kind of premium image building with their SUV offerings. O/w all these should cost much lesser. Poor we, even Maruti sells GV as a import . If manufacture / assembled here it should be priced notch above SX4
If the Captiva is going to be assembled in India, does ot mean its time to put in the cheap plastics. I hope the only thing they reduce is the price and not the quality of interiors.
