going now to see the car. will update you guys. i dunno if ill be able to take pics.
so just got back from seeing the new corolla. seems like a winner to me. the price should be around 14.2 on road for the top of the line manual and 15l for the auto
the auto is the same 4 speed i think but its got a tiptronic function. i wish toyota had given a 5 speed with paddles.
here are the features it has over the civic -
cruise control
multi information display
HIDs
headlamp washers
8 way powered drivers seat
music system controls on the steering wheel
telescopic steering wheel
the car looks like a mini camry (not saying its a bad thing). it looks pretty sporty and is a change from the civic. the rims though are about as bad as the civic. lol.
the interiors are seem more luxurious than the sporty interiors of the civic. it seems to be solidly built.
the engine is 132ps and has 170nm of torque. should be fun to drive.
one peculiar thing i noticed is that the headlamps had HIDs but no projectors.
i think this should sell alot and will probably take a bite out of the civics market share. a big bite.
i also had a look at the altis in uttam toyota, patparganj showroom in new delhi, they have 2 cars for display.
details:
all the features mentioned over the civic are correct.
the interiors are simply awesome- make the civic v interiors look plain jane.
only 3 varients available-all fully loaded.
base- 1.8 G manual transmission
higher end 1.8 G manual transmission with leather upholstry+auto headlamp levelling+power driver seat etc.
high end 1.8 V automatic version with the same features as the 1.8 G high-end manual version.
i will spend more time taking at the minute details f the car tomorrow and write my review soon.
Hello Guys,
Altis is launched in Bangalore also. I saw the launch happening in the closed environment. This happened in Nandi toyota opposite to Isckon. The showroom is full of glass, but today they had covered with black cloth & doing the opening.
They have called me tomorrow morning to see the vehicle. If possible will post the photos.
regards Deepak
I have been called by bebco toyota tomorrow for a preview of their new vehicle.I have been told that it is the altis they are showing to the excisiting customer.I shall try to get the pics and post it here.
Here are the two cars that was on display at Nippon Toyota,Cochin Yesterday. The Variants are G, GL & VL.
When the car will be available with close to 30 accessories including body skirtsclap: and bucket loads of chrome:Frustrati.
Something unique about this design is the front face is a single unit with the bonnet opening line shifted to almost top of the hood. To me it looks weird and think it makes the front piece (inetgral bumper- grill) very expensive to replace.
Hey!
Visited Pre launch function in Ravandu Toyota this morning in Bangalore.
Though I couldn't touch and feel, took some pictures.
Car has a fresh look in my opinion (though shares similarity with Camry on looks).
Cars waist line is quite high
In side dashboard is laid out pretty nice reminded me of Accura that I saw in US) because, edges are rounded off insie and feels like a well rounded running lines across
One point to note on the back seat is, it seemed like having good leg space and it has almost flat surface at the back (not as flat as Civic, but almost like it).
I was told Toyota is not launching Deisel any soon!
But ex-showroom price was quted to be between 12L-14L
High end version 1.8G(L) would come with elecrtic seat adjustment and electric lumbar support (similar to the one seen on Laura L&K and Jetta comfortline)
In addition 1.8G(L) gets HID, headlamp washers and stearing mounted stereo control.
ABS and EBD are standard on all variants.
alloy wheel looks larger than actually it is. I was told ground clearance is 170+mm (looks lot better compared to Civic).
Has bigger boot compared to old carrola, and with 475ltrs, looks pretty decent. With better rear seat legspace, boot size can be a nice compromise (compared to Skoda's 500+ boot, with short legspace)!
I have taken few pictures on my cell, but not that good qual, apologize for the same!
Overall, Altis seemed very different, IMHO. has High waistline, and looks pretty solid.
The price points for the Altis strongly suggest that the present Corolla will be sold alongside the Altis. Maybe just the base versions.
Went for a preview today. Looks feature loaded but still Civic is going
to be the segment leader. Civic interiors have more wow factor and the
design still looks very contemporary and shapely.

highly doubt it. they wouldnt seel a corolla and a corolla altis at the same time. if they would then it would be called just altis or something.
Altis will be available in 5 colors. White, light blue(camry color), red, champagen and silver. No black. Looks very good and steardy, solid built. It is much bigger then the older corolla.
Three models equalent to earlier H2, H5 and AT. No base model at this moment, may be later. Exotic interiors, 3D exteriors, great front and even the back looks very good. No sun roof. 6 Cd changer and 6 speakers in all models, MP3, Wma, AUX compateble. OVRMs open and close from inside and adjustable from inside.
This car surely is going to be a winner. Agreed, it looks a bit like Camry but the fussiness of Camry is not there. Looks like an elgent design that shows class like Lancer did when it hit the market.
The 132ps = 130bhp engine will be good enough to keep its head high against the competetion i.e. Civic. The HID are welcome, but it would be nice if they plan to offer projector headlamps also atleast as an option. The headlamp washers, although welcome, raise major concerns like maintainence or rather replacement cost for India as they will be taking some hit in bumper-to-bumper traffic of India cities.
Going by the present Corolla, I am sure this car will have Civic matching performance. The sequential shift is good, but they could have gone in for five speed gearbox rather than present 4 ( I may be wrong here ).
Basically this is an excellent change from Civic, apart from offering very stiff competetion to Jetta also. The lower model price points are pretty perfect to make sense and give competetion to G3HC and Cedia.

10.95l is a really good price for all this.clap:
It's going to be tough choosing my next car - Altis vs New New City vs Linea.
Ok guys, some more pics from the Bangalore launch.
