While driving back home from work, I bumped into a reasonably sized pot hole. The fabia handled it pretty well, much better than my city and I had no reason to suspect that all was not well. The next morning, I see that the wheel/hub cap of the front right wheel was missing. Most probably it flew off when I hit the pothole. The caps are just latched on, unlike a lot of other cars where they are held by the bolts.

Now for the more interesting part. A single plastic wheel cap (Skoda OEM) will set you back by 2300/- :(, so be careful.

Ouch. Please tell me you are kidding me.

Else karol bagh is just 30km away.

Thats so unlucky....

Thats too much to pay for piece of Plastic...add another 2000/- to that and u will get basic range of alloy wheel (Not from Skoda) .......

Good to know that nothing bad happened.

But the part about the wheel cap - OMG!!! Are you kidding!!! Please be extra^n careful safar_suman!

Looks like Skoda still hasn't learnt the lesson about spare parts.

May its time to announce that all Fabias need to have Alloys as soon as we buy it!! 2.3K for the cap is daylight & legal robbery!!

In case if you guys are wondering what OEM Skoda alloys would cost, here it is

Skoda Genuine Accessories

Seems alright for OEM ones or is it?

I understand or I am given to understand that Skoda is a premium brand, but 2300 bucks for a single wheel cap is simply outrageous. How else would you describe the same.

I shudder at the thought of what would they charge if anything happens to ORVM which is the most common casualty (atleast here in Pune) to most of the cars.

take care and drive safely

You do realize that the amount quoted is the cost per WHEEL and not for a set of WheelS, dont you?

BBS or OZ would be better than what they have for that kinda money!!! Seriously, Skoda is selling here only because of how good the cars are - not for ANYTHING else! :Frustrati

This sure pinches a lot. The plastic wheel cap wouldn't have costed more than Rs.50 approx (Bae price). If we include the manufacturer's profit and his o/h + taxes on the part, skoda would have got it within Rs.75/- and they are charging a whopping Rs.2300. No doubt there are not many takers due to this kind of pricing of spares. The same goes with many other companies...

Is Skoda company belongs to one of the relatives of Hitler ?? Seems they are doing atrocities all over the world by overcharging price of parts of Skoda :deadhorse

Well, in cost of two such OEM alloys you get set of 5 from aftermarket. Since, these after market alloys are equally competent so fabia owner must not go for OEM alloys.

Happy pricing! and great skoada bills !

A set of suzuki 13" wheel caps in my esteem cost me 1000/- & they were sitting firmly without bolts for 3 years before i changed to alloys. This is ridiculous.

outright atrocious , nothing less than that .

Rs 2300/- for a wheel cap is asking for trouble , SKODA i hope you are listening .. this not done in the indian market if you want sustain your product ...given the fact that you cars already have quite a reputation for this sort of a thing ..

Holy mother...

Buddy get yourself a set of alloys and sleep better at night.
