It is possible to achieve such high FE, but only with certain driving conditions. You are in the highest gears for most of the time and speed is quite less (means air drag is neglible). But keep on driving in such conditions for about 1000 kms and you may need to replace the engine and clutch.

I remember some time back, Skoda was claiming 100kms in 3 ltrs of fuel.

Yes, you are right. There is a big dip in Alto sales for the past 2 months. Alto used to sell in the range 20-22K monthly. If you see ACI issues of last two months, you see Alto sales ~15K.
