Well I am so happy because I think its the car that I would buy next year. Finally found a car worth buying. Lets see the pricing is also too important a factor.

The headlights point out towards Fiat model, but the grille points towards Hyundai i20.

Mostly Hyundai i20.

ACI reported a few issues back that production of i20 will be mainly for exports with a minor number of vehicles to be sold in India. The article clearly said that the car would be premium priced in our markets.

Hyundai may sell both Getz and i20 together like the Santro and i10. i20 may compete with Fabia, SR-V and possibly Grande Punto and VW Polo (If it gets launched).

I have on very strong authority that i20 will be out in Nov-Dec 08. It will be priced between 5-6 L and like the i10 will be a global launch.

i10 crdi is expected sometime March 09 and Santa Fe in April 09.

Does anyone know if i20 is coming in petrol or diesel?
I will postone my sift VDi, if i20 is coming with some powerful diesel engine, atleast 80bhp+ and some low low end toque.

Only way, i20 will be priced between 5-6 lacs is if it replaces the Getz. Going by Hyundai's recent track record, I don't think they are going to stop selling the Getz.

These are indicative figures and not meant to convey exact pricing. Just like i10 resulted in a cheaper santro, i20 might result in a cheaper Getz. If not 5-6L, i20 would be priced in the vicinity of 5.5-6.5L (i am considering both petrol and diesel)

And AFAIK Getz will continue selling alongside i20

Even the way the car is covered is unique of Hyundai. Remember the I10?
The boxy car covers make it sure.

Yes I20.

Looks like we know now how Hyundai covers their test cars, from now on they might decide not to cover it at all since we know their trick.

I am in full support.
I would have given the driver the run for HIS life! If it is such a secret project and they donot wan't to share it with the public then they can carry out their trials at their homes.
Before the launch of Matiz, we were a couple of guys on our Bullets riding on Agra road in Delhi, next to Appolo. We noticed two of these funny looking car going ahead of us and taking off towards Kalindi Kunj. We sped and overtook them, controlled their speed and oggled at the cars and gave the looks to the driver to sit in peace.

I think that was quite expected as i20 will be more expensive than Getz. Maybe they ll keep the 1.1 Getz GVS model and i20 will compete with Swift head on. But i hope Hyundai doesnt overprice this one !! Knowing Hyundai they will!
