What's different type of series of engine?

I want know about the What's K-series, M- series , G, L series of engine segments? Any difference between engine power or related with fuel efficiency or related with with noise and pollution? Any one can expalin it about the series of engine......

every manufacturer has his own engine code.
for example honda has the B series, H series,K series and D series too. These are all different and followed by a number and letters denoting where it is manufatured and which version of that engine it is.
Suzuki has G series, M series,J series etc.
Nissan has the RB series.
They have nothing to do with noise, pollution etc. it is when they are developed depending upton the technology they are badged/categorised. New changes to it might vary its performance etc.but keep it in the same series.

Thanks.... For the developiing the new series of engine , they are going to develop old series of engine into new series? Or they going to start from scratch of the new series engine? ...
What's advantage and disadvantageof new series of engine?

everyone keeps looking for change,imrpovement etc.
why do we have new laptops? better televisions etc.etc.
