This may be very true, that i20 will come in 1.4 crdi engine, with 82 bhp. This also explains why Hyundai is not at all promoting the getz 1.5 crdi, as that will turn out to be VFM when i20 crdi is released. I think Hyundai will stop the getz 1.5 crdi once i20 crdi is released.

hi sid, r u sure new verna coming mid november because i booked the verna 1 week back.if it is the case, i will surely wait for new verna

kindly help me

truth@

Verna, Civic, Innova are not the right choices to book now, as they may come up with revisions (few changes at least) any time.

I normally ask the service guys (not the sales people) for any new launches, as they go for training before new models come. :-)

Sid,

Are you 100% sure i20 is coming in Jan? Do you have any information on when deliveries will commence?

Also, any info on approx on-road price for 1.4 petrol and 1.4 crdi?

Thanks.... aK

From what I've read all over the net, i'd conclude that its going to be launched in Nov, but deliveries start only in Jan'09.

Lets wait and watch through november.

To Hyundai if they are listening - Plz no 82ps diesel :Frustrati

to answer all your queries, the info I got was from a person in HMP office working for Hyundai India. Verna launch is on the confirmed date (nothing really big about it-just a grill change-even I think any onlooker will notice it) but he was stuck that I 20 will only come in january.

he is still not sure for which of the 7 engine options will make it to India but what he said, I have mentioned. Could be true, could be not.

I feel that 1.4, 1.6 petrol and 1.4 diesel are adequate options.

1.2 petrol should not be introduced in India as the product will cannibelise the sales of I 10 kappa, getz 1.1 and will cause confusion among the consumers.

Hi

i20 was supposed to be launch in Oct 2008 but due to slump in car sales, Hyundai has delayed its launch till Jan 2009.

Are you just speculating or do you have a source for this info.

The diesel car is for sure going to be priced higher than the Swift Vdi [look at the i10 pricing, its not cheap!]. And if it has a marginally powerful [and same, if not less FE] engine compared to the swift it just won't sell. There has to be a big temptation to buy a costlier hatchback than the Vdi, specially when Indica Vista is there. 1.4Crdi will screw them unless sold at same price as Swift [which won't happen]. Only a 1.5 or 1.6 can be sold at a higher price.

As for the Kappa 1.2 - if it isn't included they can't compete with Swift Petrol as the 1.4 would again be priced higher than swift. [i10 is good but not Swift compitition, its just a smaller city car]

End of the day what makes commercial sense is - 1.2 kappa, 1.6 from verna and 1.5Crdi. Anything else they lose.

PS: Just my opinion.

They already have 1.4L, 90 HP VGT Block with 220 nm of torque. :D

Missile if compared with swift VDi.

Yes, this was confirmed from an internal source in HMIL.

This might be true. It could mean that if things continue to look bad, other car launches may be delayed too. However, I'm not too sure if things will be any better by Jan 09.

the i20 apparently rolled out cars to be sent to Europe today and is expected to launch in January as per the Hindu today.
The Hindu : Business : Hyundai Motor flags off i20s to Europe
There was also this article on rediff
It pays to make a car lighter; ask Hyundai

I wonder if this gallery link has been posted.
The i20 looks terrific!

Good! Don't show this to too many people. I don't want a common car. :)

Damn January is a long wait.

Well, Hyundai might just price it that way, ie, Fabia territory - they want to sell 15,000 cars next year. That's just 1250 cars/month - pretty low even for a B+ hatchback.

So yes, you won't have a common car cheers:
