Saw the car today outside the worli showroom.
Looked pretty neat but def. not worth Rs 55L
Merc should concentrate only on family sedans.

Yeah, the insides look a lot like an uplifted Innova -which, IMO, is one UGLY machine, but has decent interiors...

Somehow, the insides are most certainly not upto Merc. standards at all...

Hotels would never pay that amount they always get the vehicle for around half the price...

apart from them no one else would want to buy it ......

also the dials for the AC as someone quoted is far from the drivers access...

well.....

how many times do you see a vehicle like that being driven around in non AC so why would you need to touch the dials that often....

makes sense

cheers

Ok but even after the EPCG thing the price comes down to 27.5L.
I am sure hotels would go for a X trail or something but def. not a van worth 27.5L.
From the way i see it, only a really drunk persone would go and buy the viano when the innova/ endeavour/ X trail are cheaper and equally good if not better.

ummmm u sure about that?

there are some people who will buy it only for 3 stars!
& yes few 7star hotel will buy it for all executives & others but expect it only in metros
also few CEOs can really use this car by holding meetings while travelling
a definate winner for me
If I had money I would buy it

according to ACI, expect fortuner by end of this year or 2006 first quarter, sounds really appealing if they price it at 10-12 lacs as per Autocar..

Toyota does not need to do much changes to its factories since fortuner is based on IMV platform..

Guys,
we are a bit offtopic out here.
Anyway,
The Innova or even the Land cruiser would be a better and cheaper option.
Infact any Toyota Van with equal levels of equipment and more peace of mind would be half the cost and better and cheaper to maintain in the long run.
Anyway, i just saw a brand new Viano today.
The puja had also been done today and it is blue in colour and seriously speaking, i was not impressed one bit. The landcruiser manages to impress more and would be a good option to Hotels and one could even hole conferences in there.
Will post pics soon.

How can you compare the viano , the land cruiser and the innova? they are completely different cars in completely different categories.

I am just saying that it is worthless spending so much on a Van and that an Innovba will do the trick unless they want something impressive in which case the Landcruiser is there.
But the main fact is that 50L for a dumb Van makes no sense even if it were badged a Mercedes and an Innova or Landcruiser can do the job for 1/5th / half the price respectively and last longer too.
Basically, the Viano makes no Sense.
Edit - Infact the Innova/endeavour/X-Trail/Land cruiser are more reliable also and considering that most foreigners know about these cars, i am sure they would prefer a reliable Toyota over a unreliable Mercedes.

You have a point there. The Viano being a van is more user friendly and is easier to get in and out of than a SUV which are higher. The people who even consider buying a viano wont be looking at buying a car like the innova. 50 lakhs is a real rip off though. But if it has that huge S class engine as in got here in the CBU form i guess its allright

thoguh I would not argue with you over reliability thing (i just finished Merc India cheating thing)
however I think you are not getting concept of Viano here

In thatvechical you can sit face to face have all table & lights & stuff
also seating capacity, space are too important
and don't count out rear seat ride as it is the most important in this case.

YES Viano is a VAN, thats what it is ment to be while endeavour/X-Trail/Land cruiser are SUVs (sorry Innova is just a van pushed into SUV market IMO)
