Today a chap from Honda (as in HSCI. Not the dealers) came to my place today for feedback. He talked about a lot of interesting things. One of them was about a new Civic variant coming in November/December. It's supposedly named ZX and "will have a new grill among other things and will cost 50K more."

My bet is that it is the 2009 facelift with some goodies thrown in. The problem is that the chap came while I was personally not at home and my dad didn't really think of questioning about this new model. "We already bought one - why bother?!?":Frustrati

Anyway, thoughts?

I don't think so that Honda will launch a new City during this time of global recession and that also in the month of December is not all possible.

Why wont they nanopano

It maybe a global recession but people who want to buy will buy. No second thoughts.

It might be possible that due to the recession , they might cut down the cost by reducing a feature or two

Also the lifespan of honda is 3 years so being a 2006 car , i guess it's time is coming and honda will indeed give it a facelift.

I know there are three threads on the facelift. A new variant is not exactly the same is it?

The facelifted version is coming in March.

it might not be the new 2009 civic. because the city ZX did not had a change in the looks of the car. The car was only changed in the engine part.

Be assured that the Civic is not getting a better engine anytime soon, not that I know of ! Even the facelift is only asthetic - nothing happening on the engine end. :)

As NC confirmed, a facelift is on the way. However, Honda would be foolish to raise the Civic's price by another 50,000. The Civic has seen 13 months of a straight-decline in sales and at 4xx, is currently at its worst performance ever. And then you have the Altis which offers a far superior equipment level at a lower price.

Maybe it is is coming with better equipment?

The rear+Tail lamps is a direct lift from the A8...err, almost

Civic ZX will be a welcome addition.

here in USA, Civic is very sought after, driven by people in 20s, while corolla
nobody cares, sells at a discount, mostly desis and chinese buy corollas.
Civic has much better resale value compared to corolla.

So its not a better engine. The same old trick of Facelift and some minor changes with the bumpers and what ? who knows.

But why was the sales of Civic decline for the last 13 months or so. Its just now the Altis got launched and till that time Civic was the one and only player int that market

The Optra Magnum Diesel + Laura having basic models was responsible for it too.
