Ok, now I dont have the faintest idea what this car is; it was being trailed by a Rhino which had some paper stuck on the back of it, of which readable was On Test. The car I have taken pictures of was heavily covered and had a big ON TEST sign at the back. These are the few pictures of the pretty cool front with my camera, have to get the rest - there are on Dads camera.
Had a flip down DVD screen in the front on the roof, and it just seemed exceptionally high compared to the SX4. Diesel it was, spewing out smoke every time the driver accelerated.

If anyone could like figure out what the name of the car is, THAT would be awesome...

(Bad job of watermarking, any better way of doing it? :D)

See logo on the wheelhub in pic 1. Doesnt it look like this:

Definitely a new car from ICML/Sonalika. Xenon projectors and flip-down DVD screen? Hmmm.

uff thats one sharp eye you have got steeroid...i am unable to figure out the anything in that dark.

It seems to be ICML concept Inspire(may be gen next rhino!) as shown in expo..
note those headlights...

From the pictures and the ones from the expo, it looks like rhino itself. But how did you read out the Sonalika written

I hadnt seen those pics - I guess we can now officially move this to the Weird and Whacky Thread.

I wont be surprised if it is a DC job.

Yes it is a DC Job, customized Rhino for display at the Auto Expo.

heres how steeroid saw the monogram on the alloys!
this is the same pic that he has posted.
indeed it IS the sonalika rhino! can you believe the dynamics are tuned by lotus and they have a renault engine in their line up. it was launched some time after the qualis was scrapped. couldve made it big but god knows what went wrong. sad. its pretty popular up north though. nice car. id love to be driven in one but not to own one

Oh well, so much for my first "test" sighting...

Seems like rims are sourced from AURA.

as for me,il steal those rims and footwear too!! any takers for the MUV body !!!:deadhorse

Does the front windscreen have a negative curvature? The expo pics gives a built-out-of-cardboard appearance.

Nice box!

Wonder why the Rhino was not able to ride on the Qualis popularity?

Or was Qualis popular only for its 'Toyota' badge? A definite 'NO'. My brother had brought a Qualis with 30k on the odo for 5.4laks INR 3 years back. Drove it like anything and with 1.75l kms on the odo, he sold it a month back for 5.3laks INR.

And the ride, it is still butter soft. The gear slotting and the steering are so comfortable, you just don't get any strain of driving at all.

Guess, the Qualis might have set the bar too high for the Rhino to clear!

PS: Don't we have even a single Rhino owner here at T-BHP?

That makes for great marketing lines in brochures & advertisements. But the proof of the pudding is in......

Just because Lotus tuned the suspension doesn't mean its gotta handle well. Lotus' outsourcing department will tune in line with requirements, as well as what the mechanicals are capable of. The Rhino has lousy road manners.

The Rhino may look like the Qualis, but no one bought the latter for its design. The reason behind the Qualis' success was outstanding service, reliability & efficiency. Except for similar looking body panels, the Rhino & Qualis have nothing else in common.

The current Generation Rhino is doing good numbers these days, seeing a lot of them in Mumbai too. THis spy shot vehicle looks realy awsome to me. a little polishing and Un-DC ing the design would make it good competitor in the segment.
