Toyota and Honda are still playing the premium card.
In these times if they increase prices then I am sure they will get hit.
Xylo is coming and Civic is not an easy competetion. So they will lose. It looks this is a move to clear stock of 2008. Actually I believe the price will come down.

Japan's economy has also taken a big hit, Honda & Toyota are suffering in their important markets both at home & abroad, I see a window of opportunity opening for new frugal manufacturers emerging on the scene!
Honda & Toyota maybe premium brands here but having used products from both the manufacturers, Im a fan of none now. Paying premium prices for their products should be a passe now.

Most manufacturers are saying that they would increase prices in Jan 2009. I think its more of a marketing ploy to push sluggish December sales, than anything else. In such a market it would be harakiri for anyone (Toyota and Honda included), to even think of increasing prices.

Did Toyota finally increase their prices for Innova/Altis

So now that the new year has come, has toyota gone ahead and hiked the prices of the Innova and the Altis? Are the discounts that had been given for Innova still on?
In Bangalore, anybody has an idea on any and how much discounts going on for Innova?

i don't think any car manufacturer will increase prices because of the global financial crisis.

Looks like Toyota DID increase the price of the Innova. Ravindu Toyota's(Bangalore) site shows the ex-showroom price of the G4 2.5 as 946000 odd.
And they mention the price is as of 1st Jan 2008.

Toyota has increased Altis prices

Toyota seems to have increased prices of at least the Corolla. The base Altis is now 10.63L (ex-showroom, Bangalore). This was around 10.47L when I checked in late December.

Prices have indeed been increased the top end ALTIS VL AT costed 12.38 ex showroom without octroi & the new price is 12.63 without octroi.
New pricing has been updated on their website too.
As expected Toyota was true to their statement rather than entice consumers to buy in Dec'08 due to an expected price hike in Jan'09. Unlike unethical Honda !
