If it is due from 2007, that is way overdue and involves a court appearance if I am not mistaken

But I haven't received any notice,I just came to know bout this !!!
I guess I'll go and pay the fine in Bangalore One near my home this weekend

notices would have been sent to the address mentioned in your vehicle RC book. So people who have changed their residences (like me) will not be getting any notices at all. So its better to go ahead and pay.

Not having a notice is good. But I am sure that I was photographed when these guys had placed those camera's at JP Nagar!!! (Guess I feel into the test period, after which the data was not migrated! ).

But then, what proof is there (either way) that this info is correct or is wrong? I hope there was some way of verification.

( I had the agent check with the RTO if there was any outstanding tickets against my car number when I removed the hypothecation, so am more or less sure I was lucky during my runs. )

Even in Dubai, where they take a expensive photo if you overspeed, it has it own drawbacks. Once had one of our company driver fined for overspeed; he went and got the photo and looo... it showed an old lady in a Merc blasting away!

They're going to check all the KA numbers against which queries were run and then issue the tickets

Just think what will happen if they had a routine to capture where one specific registration number had been checked multiple times, since the owner / user will be trying to make sure and then make extra sure there are no notices!

PS: I checked twice!

One flaw in the system- the tickets might come to the original owner. Eslewhere in the forum, I discussed about getting a ticket for a car that I sold 11 years back. I got the B ledge extract from the Indiranagar RTO which states the car is in my name. However, at the bottom, it states that a clearance certificate has been issued to RTO electronics city two years ago

Wow! Nice initiative. I tried checking this, and tried a couple of BMTC buses that I come across regularly. I notice that one bus KA-01-FA-588 (AFAIK, this is a Volvo) has got one ticket against it - for using Mobile Phone!!!

Nice link!!!
I think its a good start to developing a database of all cars. This can be extended at some point to include other details like accident history, any police records etc.

This system helps but its not taking old numbers,

in case of my older vehicles its only taking 3 digits instead of 4

Some flaw that needs to be rectified.

Yup. I noticed that too. We had an old Bajaj Super for a long time, and i wanted to check the history - and as you mentioned, it allows for only 3 digits.

Put my old car's number through the scanner, found that I had to pay a fine of Rs 100/ for some illegal parking in March last year.

Tried to pay the fine, the site itself went down. Next try, it says my mastercard does not exist. Third time lucky with a Visa card. Hope all is well.
