New Mahindra SUV for 2011 - Pics on Pg. 109 *UPDATE* XUV500 launched at 10.8 lakhs

Note from Mod : The Official Mahindra XUV5OO review has been uploaded at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the review thread.

Caught this test mule on the tindivanam - chennai highway. I guess this is a new Mahindra vehicle(telling from its tail lights which are from the old scorpio). The vehicle was humongous when viewed from the alto, the driver said that it was an army vehicle(which is definitely not true, telling from the ORVM indicators) and he politely refused to give any more details about the make. Couldn't get any more pics since i was in a hurry.

I think its the "Indian Hummer", saw something about it on Aajtak few months/years ago, dont remember. But it might be that, and it is indeed made for the army.

From the profile, it definitely looks like an SUV rather than an MUV. I have heard rumors before that Mahindra was working vehicle larger than the Scorpio. But the million dollar question is why test in chennai. It is possible that it is from one of the chennai based manufacturers and the lights have been taken from the eariler scoprio to throw people off guard. Looks like the lights front and back are fitted temporarily.

Looks like a "beast"!

Great scoop there. Is M&M planning to upgrade/facelift the Scorpio ?

But MH-15 ? I hope the Chennai manufacturers are not playing a prank here

its not a MM vehicle, the tail-lights are just to confuse people.

its either Ford/Hyundai/toyota!

for me it looks like a Toyota Fortuner!

Nice scoop, tyres are humungous, can't be Fortuner because only newly developed vehicles are so heavily disguised.
I doubt its a Mahindra but could be the next gen. Scorpio, as its getting old now.
International carmakers hardly test their vehicles here, especially for which they do not see a huge market here.

It looks like toyota Fortuner, looking at the size and the cut of the bonnet and front wheel arches.

It is certainly a mahindra vehicle. You can see a company "official" support vehicle (Scorpio) in one of the snaps. The co. cars have Mahindra logo or Mahindra painted over it and I see them quite often near the M&M plant in Mumbai.

The scorpio seen in the pic was already parked there and a guy(in white shirt ,seen in the pic) was waiting near it. I followed the test mule and it(test mule) pulled over near the scorpio and the test mule's driver asked the guy(who was waiting near the scorpio) "polaama?", which means "can we leave?".

That vehicle looks like a big SUV. Could it be the new Mahindra SUV destined for the US?

"MH 15" and no number? Is that possible?

Looks like a disguise, looks very much like the Fortuner but why would they want to cover it up?

Even I was wondering the same. Hence I guessed some Chennai manufacturer (Hyundai/Ford) trying to play a prank sticking up a fake test number plate.

Could be Mahindra's offering for the U.S Market for when they make an entry into it?
