Hi guys,
we got our ferrari red lancer 2 weeks ago.
While i loved it for the first few days, i have had some problems with the car already.
- the REAR LEFT tail light garnish has water entering it.
- the REAR LEFT light is a bit misaligned as compared to the right one.
- The REAR bumper is jutting out a bit on the LEFT side
- The trunk is mis aligned.
When brought to the notice of the lancer people from the company, they said they will repair the light but the mis alignment is ok ( *** ).
They said that their company policy is that they have a specified limit for panel gap.
I.E - the have a set limit (minimum and maximum) for the width of the panel gaps and my car falls under those limits.
This is the first time i am hearing and have experienced this.
Is there anything that we can do?
I will post some pics soon.
Thanks,
Lamborghini.

Knowing HM such wide tolerances are not surprising. I had read about these gaps in some other review.

BTW, isn't this in the wrong section.

Hey lambo open the boot, pry the beading there and check for the welds. You should see only the machine welds which are very neat and uniform. Check if there are some fresh uneven welds.

Any misaligned body part can mean only one thing - accident and repair work. So just check it out to make sure. I am just a bit doubtful because i have myself seen a hyundai truck meet with an accident after krishnagiri and the cars were pretty much damaged.

Just make sure dude...

Lambo,

Sorry to hear about your experience. A new car (and one that was previously a high end luxury car) having such terrible fit and finish in unacceptable.

I only wish you had read My Review on the Lancer 1.8 before buying your car. As a previous Lancer owner, I was absolutely SHOCKED at the horrid quality levels and just the general way in which the car was put together.

Thats what you get when you add HM / PAL to any formula.

GTO

Hey GTO,
I read the review but due to ome unfortunate reasons (price, dad) we ot the lancer over the Baleno but i am very much in love with the car.

There are no signs of damage visible anywhere in the car so i am just going to get the work done.

really sorry to hear about that lambo ... as harrie said check everything ... and get it done by them ... you could even write to HM.. i mean if nothing helps.. they might respond

If only you had noticed this at the time of delivery it would have been fine. When i went to get my endeavour the right fog lamp had water droplets from inside, the sales rep was like it will all evaporate once u switch on the fog lamps dont worry about it. I called the wasan manager down showed him the problem and he had it written on the delivery chalan that the fog lamp is defected and must be replaced for free at the time of the first service.Futher i noticed a small scratch on the rear step, it was probably 1 centimeter long ...most people wouldnt have noticed it but i check the car throughly with my microscopic eyes before taking it home haha.... informed the manager of the same and he added the replacement of the step for free at the first service too. All the replacements were done without worries at the first service. They did not replace the parts at the time of delivery coz they didnt have all the spares on them as yet coz mine was one of the first few endeavours they sold.
You should just blast them at the time of delivery and refuse to take the car unless problems are fixed or given in writting. You need to be brutal with some of these showroom, they want you money and by you refusing to take the delivery is a threat to them they will have everything replaced for you if u are firm abt it.
Since you already missed the bus by not threating them at the time of delivery here is another example of a frnd of mine, probably u can do the same...my frnd bought the new accord (yes your reliable japanese problem free car) and within a month or so he had sleep-less nights(literally) his security system in the car would go off everynight and everyone in the building was disturbed due to the alarm...he first thought maybe some1 messes with his car as when he took it to honda they said its perfect no problems from our end....its funny but he actually stayed up one night just to make sure...he saw the alarm go off on its own without even a cat in sight ...sent the car again they said its repaired now...same problem next night...repairing happend 3 times but yet no luck.... he was so pissed off that he went to icibaan and said to hell with u r car i am keeping it here and refuse to take it back ... u can have it for a lifetime i dont need u r car anymore i am taking this up with the honda company and am sick of dealing with u dealer ...he actually left the car there for weeks and they did a through check for the entire period and gave it back perfect without problems.

dude how was the baleno more expensive than the lancer??

hey lambo while reading about it all that comes to my mind is an accident.due to some misfortune it might have met with some accident and they must have just done a quick repair therefore the problem with alignment.anyway get it checked and keep us informed of what happens.

yeah why didnt you go in for the baleno its cheaper than the lancer !!

rev

well the baleno was 9 lacs plus once upon a time when the lancer was 8 lacs plus

agree: with you iceman but lambo just got his lancer recently after the huge price drop.

Hey lambo,
Thats really unfortunate to happen. The first thing that crossed my mind is an 'accident' before the delivery. There's one thing you can do.Since you brought your car from Metro motors(hope im right),take it to Fortpoint and get it checked. They could tell you the reason.Else, just drop me a Pm.I will help you out with it,since i know quite a few lancer-specialists. ;)

X

Hey Sahil,
I checked the car during the time of delivery but the ignored the alignment aspect totally.
He promised to fix the dent on the roof and the scratch on the trunk when i showed it to him though (before delivery).

We bought the lancer over the baleno because i was not here at that time and a smooth salesman did the speking to my dads secretary.

X-Machine,
while i ended up calling even Mr PG Santanam about the matter, he sent some senior manager from Chennai to inspect the car who told me the same thing so even if i show it too a hundred people, the company itself will have to take the incentive.
Also while test driving the car for a noise in the rear (loose number plate), the car was revved to 4000 RPM when it was still a virgin (350km) which pissed me off.
This coupled with the dealers lies put me off further ( Metro claims they are the official dealers for lancer and that Fortpoint is a sub dealer, If we put 15 inch alloys and tyres, our warranty will go but my jijaji has an official letter from their factory in Japan saying that we can put 15 inch alloys without any hassles.)
Also because of the tyre thing, my OD has decreased by 10.33 mm (and even without taking the error into perspective it gave me an average of only 8.225kmpl)
I think even the SFXi guys and LE guys must face the same problem.
Anyway, i am trying my luck for leather interiors, the repairs, SFXi kit (does it include OE alloys?) and a certification from them saying it is not banged.

X and other lancer owners, what average does your lancer give?

That really doesnot matter at all. Engine is pre runned in factory so dont get pissed off.

Your uncles car in japan an not india. Do remember the road conditions are different. I was not allowed to put 55 profile availble on NHC in Thailand here..

If he is in gujrat wonder how the company gave the letter as its usually the dealers who give you a shut up call.. anywayz try if you can get the letter..

Errr.
Montoya, he is living in Vadodara, Gujarat, not japan.
