I dont know if we already have this posted on these forums ..

the Tata Aria - powered by a 140 bhp motor, tops at 225 ks .. was launched at the 2000 auto expo , as a true race bred sports coupe .

and then we have the Xover launched at the 2005 Geneva Auto Show ..

does anyone know more on this ?

Aria: looks DC designed...atleast the rear
Xover: Looke like a sophisticated Indigo
Praying that they just remain concepts....except for the engines...140bhp sounds good!!

Stratos any inputs???

Tatas sure won hearts of the young with the Aria concept and we all expected it on the roads for like 7-8 Lac price tag then in 2 years flat. This never happened. Xrover as you mentioned is a new concept but there is still no news of this going into production.

The concept that TATAs are seriously trying to bring in is the Sub 1 Lac car. It was initially perceived as an Autorikshaw on 4 wheels but now has become an ambitious challenge for Ratan Tata personally

If I am not wrong it was not Italdesign but I.D.E.A. I guess both are different

Hey those are some neat designs....but I guess TATA does not have any plans of releasing any of those in India in the near future....the cross over looks cool though...If not TATA any other takers...??? As for the Aria it looks cool ,might make one hell of a road going vehicle but I suppose it still hasn;t seen daylight !!! :D

what i read bout the Aria was that ,it was designed by Telco and I.D.E.A , AS STRATOS rightly said its not by Italdesign..
i found the red convertible Aria in one of the bsmotoring archives ... i'd say if they launched it under 10lakhs ...hyundai plans for the Tiburon will be pretty must destroyed....i think the car looks gr8 ...XOVER and Innova looks a lot similar dont they ? hehe

You are right! Indica was designed by I.D.E.A studios of Turin. In fact Fiat's original Siena/Palio (Proj 178) was also designed by IDEA and Fiat was pissed off that the cars looked similar.
Therefore the Palio/Petra redesign project went to Italdesign (run by Giorgetto Giugiaro ).
Safari was done by IAD studios and I think they are in the UK.
Both Aria and Xover were done by IDEA. Xover is based ont he Safari ladder frame and Aria is based on the Indica platform....and just for info sake the Optra was done by Pininfarina.

Some more pics of the Aria. The open-top version looks better. Anyways, they should change a little bit of this and that and it'll look good. The rear lights look like cheap plastic and reminds me of the Baleno design.

me too i like the open top one better ... but whats interesting is the engine pushing 140 horses unlike Indian cars which come with just enuf or inadequate horsepower..
i wonder which motor was installed in the concept ?

Oops that was my mistake. Yes it was I.D.E.A and not Ital design as previously stated.

The grille looks too Indica and has to go. It would be best if the grille could be eliminated

Add a few more curves here and there to make her look more muscular

Change the fuel tank cap to a normal one

The TATA logo at the back too is way too big and should be placed more discretely
