A complete full-blown Test Report of the Mercedes E350 has been uploaded here. Please continue the discussion over on that link.

There is a confirmed news (I cannot disclose the source but 100 % confirmed) that the new W212 E 350 CGI avant garde in CUPRIT BROWN colour is doing rounds somewhere near the ARAI and around that area performing tests for the Indian conditions.
The car can also be seen in the vicinity of the new plant of M-B.
Spy photographers be alert and if you manage any pics, kindly upload in this forum.
Here is the photos of the same, but its Elegance with LED day lights. Its being snaped when I visited MB plant last week along with Dippy & Karthik. It's being imported for homologation. You can notice the two different wheels on both sides!
The Engine bay looks like a Killer whale body (atleast the colour contrast and shape)
Hi Hanmust,
On my last visit to Pune had seen a similiar colour car, with the label Diesel across the fuel filler lid, it had an S class markings (logos/badging), not very sure whether it was a commercially launched S class, but this car was found going towards Koregaon Park in Pune.
The rear isnt the bestamong Mercedes designs.Looks like it has been inspired by the 3 series BMW's.
Shouldn't it be E350 CDI ?
Or CGI is acronym for something else?

It won't be the new E, as it's the first ever new E-class to reach the country.

CGI - Compressed Gasoline Injector, in short Merc's version of direct injection petrol engine!
Considering the poor quality of fuel we have in here, I think they must bring in the non CGI motor. The non CGI motor in latest format produces around 310+ bhp as compared to around 288 bhp from the cgi.
300+ horsepower will give very good competition to BMW and Audi and it will be more comfortable with our fuel, though compression ratio is on the higher side.

So till now, all Merc Petrol cars sold in India were non fuel injection type?

well they are fuel injected but the injectors function outside the cylinder and are placed just before the intake valves and pointing into the cylinder when the intake valve is open.
With Direct Gasoline injectors, the injectors are placed within the cylinder head as opposed to the intake plenum. They squirt fuel into the cylinder when the piston is near or at TDC. Exactly like the direct injection diesels.
Petrol Direct injection is fairly new technology. Provides better performance and slightly higher mileage.
cheers
IMO previous E looks much better.
The pictures don't do justice to the car. In the flesh, it is much better looking. Similar to the S class, this isn't a 'photogenic' car.
Nice, the launch is just around the corner. E350 petrol will be in a niche segment, it's the diesels + entry / mid-level petrols that move off showroom floors swiftly. That said, the torque from these direct-injection petrols is WOW (some of them diesel like)
P.S. I still think that the rear end wears one of the most non-Merc designs ever. Considering that the E is their best-seller sedan, this is sacrilege!
