Corolla Altis Sport Launched

Toyota has launched a limited edition version of their recently launched Toyota Corolla Altis. There will be 300 units made at 11.35 lac (ex-delhi) price tag.

IMO, Corolla in Altis avatar was never matching up to the popularity of Civic and Civic Sport prompting company to take this step.

For Official Press release, Read On:

Quote:
MUMBAI: Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Thursday introduced all new Corolla Altis Sport (limited edition) to target young car enthusiasts.

The new Corolla Altis Sport has been designed to give customers the stylish image of a car which is youthful and sporty, and has exciting new features.

Adding to the stylish look of the car is an aerodynamic front and rear bumper spoiler, a classy headlamp garnish, sleek side skirts and exclusive rear LED spoilers. Commenting on the launch of the new limited edition, Mr. Hiroshi Nakagawa, Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) said, “The Corolla Altis launched last year has been highly appreciated by our customers because of its advanced luxury and comfort features. We are now delighted to introduce the all new Corolla Altis Sport, which will offer sporty styling in combination with these features.”

Apparently, There is no mention of this launch on Toyota India website. Frankly, I find this car more appealing than the run of mill Toyota Corolla Altis. Also, It is to be noted that most companies in this range have a Sport Model, for example Civic Sport, Cedia Sport, Octavia vRS and so on. Is this the case of automotive industry following the footsteps of Bollywood where most songs these days are accompanied by a 'remix' version. Because if there was something better than the original, it would be THE ORIGINAL.

One more joke.
There are no changes where it matters the most for any Sports edition : changes to the engine.

Its nothing but just a few cosmetic addons to attract those who want form over function.

These sports editions are an insulting joke for us Indians. Just a few sports editions come up with minor cosmetic changes and nothing else. How long can they fool Indian customer ? The automotive companies are making money out of Indian customer's ignorance.

I thought that Toyota was out of this renaming car business, but looks like they have some other Indian now at good level who made this decision to come up with sports edition. May be new Skoda laura effect, but this is ridiculous joke.

Dont see anything special or Sport about this one. Even the alloys dont look different from the standard Altis.

This is to be expected to bring some excitement back and generate some incremental sales. I remember even the old Corolla had a sport type model launched sometime in mid-2007.

All these options were available at the dealer as accessories. The least they could have done is provided new design 16inch alloys and a few new color shades.

Is looks all that will make this car sporty? they should tweak the engine too.. that is what made the RS popular. Few more BHP would have done.

If they have not modified the power, suspension and handling, then its just a heavier Altis with some cosmetic changes. So not sporty at all.

Whats so special about this to call Sporty Ver. Front bumber looks like local garage Job. And that might be expensive also to maintain.

What this means is more frequent visits for painting +more cash for Toyota in sales and service.
