+1 to that Marlinspike, the Fusion was always a great package, but never fell into any particular segment.

A case of CON-Fusion with its positioning as we may say :)

The Fusion was promoted as an SUV which it was not. In reality it was a test bed on the consumer for Fiesta mechanicals. If they priced it 50k less than a Fiesta, they would have done well. Fusion bombed big time globally. Only people who buy these in the UK are old age pensioners

hey we are planning to buy a fiesta, should we wait?

I don't think so. One, this is a hatch so not sure whether it can be considered a Fiesta replacement/rival (though this depends on your priorities). Two, we have no idea how long it'll take to launch this. The fact that their using a fake boot means that they want the disguise to last longer indicating that the launch itself may be quite a while later. Not worth waiting for IMO

Yesreday I went to Hubli Metro ford for a test drive. They didn't have any petrol fiesta for test drive; he failed to arrange a vehicle aslo. The show room diidn;t have any single petrol vehicle in the yard/service centre/showroom!!!
But he told that New fiesta with 1.6 diesel and 1.4 litre petrol is going to be launched in November! Is this true? I thught ford is luanching only Fiesta hatch. Hence I have defferred the decision to buy a fiesta for now. Anybody got solid information on this?

Add to this the Maruti Ritz... Similarities continue! But, Maybe Ford thinks better when pricing this hatch :uncontrol

Is this going to be the new Fiesta?

Please see the first pic, where clearly there are christmas tree lights a la Fusion on the C/D pillar.

That looks like a Ford Focus to me. Dont blow me over but that seriously has the focus shape.

I'm not sure about the Focus theory because the rear looks very different. If you look at the Focus, the tail lights and rear glass are steeply raked. The rear glass on this car looks more vertical. Also, the interiors are different too.

Is this a Ford Focus or Ford Fiesta ? I think it's definitely a Ford Focus, an India bound !!

This Focus argument just got me thinking. I was trying to mix and match the design elements from whatever is visible from the snaps here.
If you check the close up shot of the spy picture, there appear to be a crease running along the waistline and one on the lower portion of the door. Have marked them in the attached picture.
Now these appear to be different from whats available with our current generation Ford Fiesta. Picture attached.
While the waistline for the car in the spy picture merges with the door handle and the depression around it, it does not appear to do so with our Fiesta. In fact the width of both these creases on the body of the spy car appear to be as large as those available on the current generation UK Focus. Picture attached.
So might be that this may not be a Fiesta since these design elements point to different dies been used for these two cars.
Could this then be the Focus - India bound. Doubtful. Since the interiors point to the current Indian Fiesta.
I think this might be a mix-n-match car Ford is developing specific to India. They have been known to do that earlier with the Ikon and the Fiesta.

A few quick lines over the creases on the camouflage revealed this!
This looks like the fiesta based hatch to me! It can sure give a tough fight to the jazz and the punto.

Ford! Bring it to the roads soon! :D With new engines too!

@auto Freak
you have really done a good job with the sketch work...
clears the pic a lot....
now I dunno what to do...
wait for i20 diesel or wait for this ford car

exposed a bit from http://www.caradvice.com.au/34284/sp...sed-small-car/

i dont like it. it is almost same design like fusion. ford need to change the design profile if they really want to sell the car in good no. the car should be more curvy like Punto, fabia. even polo looks cool.

I think Ford intends to promotes it as a "no nonsense" practical car with reduced pricing and new head lamps. I would any day prefer a tall car with SUV kinda looks (well MPV!) to run over those pesky ricks!

Works for me!!!:)
