Whats Suzuki Ignis doing in Maruti Showrooms?

Guys, just saw a Silver coloured Suzuki Ignis in a Maruti Showroom (Maruti Marketing times, Nehru Place, New Delhi)
The car looks like a mix and match of Swift and wagonR..

One of my friend also talked about Maruti displaying Suzuki Ignis in their showrooms...

Also in this month's autocar, there is an Ignis for sale (red coloured.. in sales section) and it reads "maruti display vehicle"..

Yup, the Ignis is a good car. It's used in the JWRC Super 1600 category. Did pretty ok even though it was a FE FWD layout.

Maybe they can launch this instead of the 1.6 Swift.

Hmm.
155 veiws and just 2 replies.
Anyways,
Saw the ad in ACI too.
Is it the new Swift or the old look one?
Shan,
we could wish but Mauti launching a Performance car (i mean like the Palio GTX which comes with a harder suspension) with all the right bits is like FIAT becoming India's largest car manufacterers.
I think the reason Maruti didn't launch it was because of its high sticker price.

The car may have come to the showroom as a display model. But with the Swift out in the Market, do they really need one!!

As far as performance car go I think GM may be launching the Aveo. I saw a car similar to that testing in Delhi. It was heavily camouflaged.

does look and sound more appealing than the SWIFT...at least the flavor of SWIFT available today.

makes no sense to bring in the Ignis considering the success of the Swift. What does make sense is bringing in the Liana.

I agree with that.Maruti should have discontinued the esteem and replaced it with the Liana and call it the 'new esteem'. has the modern car looks, is quite spacious and has a range of peppy engines. But does it look too similar to the NHC??

Maruti has enough product overlaps right now. Last thing they need is another one. They are soon turning into a General Motors of India.

What they need is class leading B and C segment cars with diesel options.
