I would say it would be better getting the current lancer cuz it looks more agressive than the Carisma. And the launch is supposed to be by December according to Overdrive.

EVO can never help HM capture market share .. hence is highly impractical ..
off topic - following the launch of the EVO ix Mitsu is offering 1000Pounds discount on the Evo viii ..

the Cedia is the current lancer by mitsubishi in UK aswell as north america ...
the Model is known as the Mitsubishi Lancer Cedia... least we can hope for is the Ralli Art variant as an option to take the fight to the vRS and OZ rally variant ..3 variants covering a attractive price change may do the trick ..
even then they cant take the optra out with a base model priced at 7.5L..

The confusion is that Hm has stated on the website that carisma has been released but autocar comes out with a first drive of the cedia.

The only exlanation can be that cedia will compare with NHC and carisma with sonata and octavia and others.

with a 120+ bhp motor and a 10 lac price tag it cannot be compared with the NHC segment...it is in competition with the optra, skodas and corollas...
carisma should be placed against the Accord ,sonata etc..

carisma is a d segment car costing 10-12 lakhs.

cedia is a premium c segment car that is longer than the corolla and octavia.

Hence in a way it is difficult to distinguish the segments. I think it will be similar to the case of elantra and sonata.

the interiors look like the evo vii, cant they change the smiling grile of the cedia to that found on the evo vii or viii. the rear also need some tratment to make it stand out.

Mitsu Carisma is an outdated car and it will be a failure if launched here. I wonder if any one would buy a carisma instead of the corolla or optra.

i meant as a brand ambassador- what more publicity would HM need other than launching the evo, and garnering some well-needed presence in the niche segment..... something in the roots of the audi, bmw, etc..... i ain't saying that a potential merc or a beemer customer would veer towards an evo, but a test drive might change his views....

on another note, the cedia might not hit our shores till december or january 2006..... as quoted by autocar.... but wouldn't it face stiff competition from the likes of the new civic...??

The only thing HM needs to do is launch the mitsubishi colt here. It will kill the likes of getz and swift. IT has won so many awards around the world.

carisma is old and maybe HM will scrap plans as cedia seems to be better than carisma. IF carisma needs to be launched then many design revisions will be needed. you can see what happened when sonata(not v6) and elantra collided even after being in different segments.

Lancer Cedia would be a good option if Mitsubishi prices it on par with the Corolla.
Totally agree, the Corolla is a legend when it comes to its reliability.
But guess we must not write it off as a total failure in the nascent phase of its Indian journey. From what Ive heard, it handles really well, has good efficiency since it comes with Mitsubishi patented GDI (Gasoline Direct ) engines and pollutes less...

Lets wait and see!!!

Cheers

Mitsubishi has always been known for its ride and handling and european taut looks. THe lancer always displays this virtues to the fullest. MItsu may not be on par with toyota or honda but it still makes good cars. nodoubt Hm has recently been unable to handle the brand well in India.

I am excited about the Cedia. NOt intrested in the carisma though.
