Is it true that the K-Series engine is a product of Mazda and MSIL has borrowed this from them. Similar to getting the multijet diesel engine from Fiat.

If this is true imagine, core parts of both petrol and Diesel cars out of Maruti Suzuki stable are borrowed technologies.

Can someone confirm on this??

Nope. AFAIK, the K12M engine is Zuki's.

Quote:

Unveiling the new engine Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki, said, "K12M engine is another example of Maruti Suzuki's commitment to take engine technology in India to the next level. This is in line with parent company, Suzuki Motor Corporation's focus on maximizing the environmental benefits of fully proven technologies. For this, Suzuki is fully exploiting the know-how gained in over 50 years of compact-car production. K-series engine is the latest innovation coming from this focus. K series engines are not just fuel efficient but also low on CO2 emissions. The K12M engine further strengthens Maruti Suzuki¿s efforts for fuel efficient, green engine technology for customers in India."

Mazda also has a K-series engine.

Might be people are confused!

Please find the excerpts from wikipedia, of course not that all data in wikipedia is genuine:

The Mazda K-series was conceptualized and co-developed with Suzuki in which Mazda handled the bulk of the engineering with valuable input from Porsche.

Yes, but if you see, Mazda K-series engines were developed in the 90s.

Add this to that, courtesy the link you provided.

The Mazda K family is a 60° V6 automobile engine, ranging from a tiny 1.8 L for the Mazda MX-3 to 2.0, 2.3 (in the Mazda Millenia) to 2.5 (for the Mazda MX-6, Mazda 626, Mazda Millenia, and early Mazda MPV). All are short strokeDOHC engines and were designed to be as compact as possible for short-hood front-wheel drive applications.
It says that the 1.8L engine is the smallest K-series engine produced by Mazda. So.

Will put up a detailed ownership thread soon. Right now too busy grinning from ear to ear. :D

Congratulations, sajo.

Here is another FE update. It gave 14.5 kpl in 100% city driving with 80-90% AC usage.

Is that the swift vxi you're talking about?

Yes I am talking about the swift VXi. And that figure was wrong. Dad told me incorrect amount of fuel filled. The correct FE comes out to be 15.2. But please note that dad is an extremely light footed driver. He does not rev the engine too much. So the FE obtained by T-BHPians could be slightly lower than this.
