Needed a swift/palio 1.3 diesel. called up wasan ford. they said xyz amount for invoice price. 2500 for registration charges.
Asked for a break up on mail & phone, they said on mail and officially responded they cannot respond for the charge of the same.
My question is has the govt authorised this charge ?
Do you know whether the insurance co is going to take this charge as a part of your invoice price.
The answer is NO.
This is just a palm greasing and speed money charge taken to make things tougher for you to INDIVIDUALLY register your car without the dealers help.

No one gives a damn about his/her rights .......... well its time you TOOK THE EFFORT.

Again. Bombayites/Chennaiites/Bangaloreites/Delhiites learn something here.
I used an MLA's car to travel to the dealership.

The registration charges were automatically discounted and taxes were quoted privately.

If you get my drift. Get it.

cheers

i10 AT - Test drive arranged @ office
Me driving around Elec city

(this was my 1st ever AT drive in my life)

Me : so whats the FE these cars give
SE: Saar, i10 Mt gives 17-18, this will reduce 1-2 and give 15+ surely.

Me: Still not got the car for wifey after reading TBHP reports on i10 AT cars. I cant afford 8-10KMPL cars now.

This thread has been an interesting read. Here is one episode from one of my dealership outings.

I had visited a popular Skoda showroom in South Mumbai a couple of years ago. While I was waiting for a TD in the customer lounge, a family consisting of two gents and two ladies walked in with the intention of buying a car. They were made to sit right next to me. Soon enough the sales guy came to attend to them. They were first shown details on the 1.9 tdi and were given usual sales talk about the car etc. What followed had me in splits but I controlled myself.

The sales guy went " Sir there is another car we have the Skoda RS which is the fastest car in Asia. Would you be interested in it?" The family who of course did not know much about cars were stunned and immediately crowded around the display RS. I could hear things like " oohhh look at that, fastest car in Asia etc etc" from them. I somehow think the sales guy managed to sell them the RS instead of the Tdi.

As for me what else could I do but just have a good laugh. Felt bad for that family though. No use for the RS whatsoever. And the sales guy actually told them not to buy the diesel because of heavy maintenance and go for the petrol instead.

I recall someone who was trying to sell some TCIC vehicle claiming that it has two radiators ( it was a front mounted intercooler :D)

The Anti Braking System is a classic. When I took a test drive of the NHC about 2 years back the SE told me the same thing. A simple logical thinking would be sufficient to see what's wrong with saying Anti Braking System for a car.

i still recall my visit with a friend to tata dealer enquiring about new vista, and SE kept on claiming new quadrajet engine is same as of Swift, taken from maruti and not from fiat, where a multijet engined palio was parked just next to vista.

Most of the fresh Mechanical engineering graduates can't explain the difference between accuracy , precision and repeatability of a measuring instrument.

Most of the Production engineering graduates can't explain the geometry of simple single point tool.

Most of the Electrical engg graduates can't draw the circuit of two way switches.

I have seen software engineers who can't even understand a simple flow chart.

Once I met a BE Mech with further qualification in CAD talking about three dimensional square.

I have seen doctors misdiagnosing malaria as typhoid.

Many senior doctors rely on nurses to take BP rather than allowing the junior doctors.

A close relative of mine went for routine medical check up at a local hospital and was told by he doctor that he is having heart problem and he had suffered a heart attack earlier. My worried relative rushed to specialist for second opinion was declared hale and healthy and commented that the doctor had read the ECG wrongly .

Why should we make fun of poorly paid and trained car sales guys when indifference and a general lack of aptitude to master what you do is prevalent in every field.

Actually they are all worth making fun of, but where is the time? This being an auto forum, let us stick to just incompetent auto salesmen and engineers.

That's a good one :)

OK. What % of the customer can figure the stupidities and absurdities? Would the company spend money to train them for the odd TBHPian?

To add to the list, Electronics engineers who wouldn't know a transistor if it hit them in the face :D

I recall i was shown an Unmarked TO 3 case for a lab viva. My friends said that it was a power transistor, and they were on their way. I insisted that it was just a TO3 case, and could be anything - some sort of power device - could be a power transistor, but I couldn't give a definite answer. The lady examiner kept insisting that I was saying this because I didnt know exactly what it was - I couldnt - it was unmarked - the text on it had gotten rubbed off over the years.

Incompetence is a malaise plaguing our society as a whole, not just automobile salesmen.

Hehe! Add me to the list of incompetent electronics engineers.

I have one thing going for me though, ain't no transistors hitting me in the face. :D

I'll never enter core electronics, I know my limitations.

In any case... Can we for once let one page be just about making fun of SEs? Please?!
please:

Weird suggestions/recommendations by service advisers of authorized dealerships could possibly be added to this thread too.

What's the one magnet that works on any car customer / owner? Yup, its FE. I've heard FE benefits being attached to a long list of add-ons. This one takes the cake (Early days of teflon coating) : Saar, teflon makes the body smooth and improves FE on the highway.

And while on accessories Saar, the company spoiler (a tiny bit on the rear for 15,000 bucks) will greatly improve grip in turning.

I swear. We indians are over obsessed with FE.

A maruti dealer told me that I ll get 19-20 kpl in Kolkata City Driving with the Ritz DDIS. He said no matter how badly I drive, I ll get 17 kpl.

My friend, who has the same car gets, 13 kpl, which in the real world is respectable, considering the driving conditions..

Honda dealer was opposite. Told me I ll get 5 to 6 kpl max with the CR-V. I am consistingly getting 7.5 to 8.5 kpl!
