Well the Beetle would be more like a premium product like the Fiat 500 which is selling around 1-2 pieces every month & which IMHO is fair number for an ultra premium small car.

I dont think VW is looking at anything more than that, intially lot may buy but eventually it should setlle down to single digit numbers only.

Polo I believe would be closely priced with Fabia & slightly above it i.e. like Ritz & Swift by Maruti.

I think so too. And it should be able to find its own segment of owners. Remember there are Beetle clubs in India too. This is fav car to many and I am sure some of them would be able to afford it too.

Dont really like the pricing of beetle @ 20 lacs.

But it might still sell better numbers than Fiat 500 as the novelty value is higher. Anyways its such a beautiful car that i would love to see them on road, so what if i cant afford it. Thanks VW for launching it

PS: No offence to the Fiat fans, just personal opinion

However, the new Beetle's feminine looks further lower it's probability of being sold amongst those contemplating to buy one!!

20 Lakhs is ridiculous! What a rip off!!

Why are cars so expensive in India? Is it the car makers or the high taxes?

Is the Beetle going to be an import or will it be manufactured / assembled locally?

The Beetle should be a direct import. Like the Fiat 500.

For the numbers they do I think it would not make sense to have them locally manufactured. I am just guessing.

Hoping that the Indian version is as loaded as the US versions. Engine size appears to have been shrunk from 2.5 to 2 L already

Perceptions! I would rather call them suave, trendy and people for whom money is just an object to achieve material desires and nothing more

Start earning twenty lakhs a month. You'll see value in the Beetle then

Quite agree. That would be a better way to address them.

If it were like the first post in this page there would be a lot of foolish cash cows world over.
