The manufacturer never gets the premium over the ex-showroom price. This is made purely by the dealers and people who have got the first alloted cars.

Bookings for Fortuner are open again, the deliveries for the second batch will start after April.

Yup, it's open again. Had similar advert. in TOI as well.

Production has been bumped up from the initially planned 500 vehicles to 800 a month. The wait list and premiums will soon disappear.

What is the condition of deliveries of the fortuner now?are they easily available now or is there still a long waiting list or a premium?

The situation has not changed too much.... the production has increased to about 900 units, still the car is as elusive and sought after as it was earlier. It still commands premium of 2 lakh +.

When the car was launched it garned about 7000 bookings. Anyone with half a brain will know that a reasonable number of these bookings are speculative bookings to milk people who are desperate to own the first few models at any price. Production was initially at 500 units a month and bumped up to 800 odd units a month so since october, if you take an average production number of 700 units about 4000 odd units should have been delivered now. Now that the novelty factor has died down and you are not the *First* fortuner owner in the village anymore, there is absolutely no reason to pay a premium. Deliveries should take a month at most if you book now. Dealers will always like to make a hype but look at the production numbers against current bookings and you should get a vehicle in a reasonable period. IMHO, it is not worth making a speculator 3 lakhs richer at your expense. Just my two cents...

The bookings are closed since Jan when they were opened for a week or so. The bookings are again likely to open in April for deliveries going upto Sept-Oct (as told by Delhi Dealers).
While the first lot of bookings were mainly of genuine users. some of whom decided to part with their allotments in lure of hefty premiums but the second lot of bookings might be by some speculaters too who are still making hay while the sun shines !

i am one of those few who has got the SUV from the second batch. Pictures will be coming up soon. :D

Bookings have been closed long time back in Feburary. The waiting period is again 8-11 months.

Toyota always manages to amuse me - on how they can manage this feat in India. Bringing average models to India and succeeding big time - earlier with the Qualis) and now with the Fortuner!

Just got delivery of the Fortuner few days back after a 7 month wait !
Due to the high demand for this SUV the dealers often play hanky-panky. Just be sure to keep a constant follow up with the dealer, get a confirmed order number so you can know the position of your vehicle's delivery schedule AND a copy of all paper work.
I learnt the hard way, will post details in another with review soon.

I got mine booked in January first week. paid fully for the car on 4'th march, & got it delivered during the navratras. No premium or ne thing.
But I do know some one who paid 50,000 premium & some 2lacs worth accessories from the dealer itself to get instant delivery, just last week, silver color.
Crazy people...!!!:D

When I asked about the huge waiting period for Fortuner to Toyota officials at the Q-show, they were apologetic about it. As per them, capacity is being increased to meet the demand.

The way the officials responded, I got the feeling that they are afraid of genuine buyers not considering Fortuner as an option due to the waiting period.

Hello ,

Can anyone please advise if the Fortuner bookings are on again ? Any idea on the waiting period ?

Thanks
