Hello friends - we have booked a Miotsu Cedia few days ago. While booking I wanted Black and has mentioned this accordingly in the booking paper. However, after about 3-4 days - we changed our minds and wanted to change the colour to White. The dealer has come back with things like - 'this cannot be done', 'you might get it only in January and the discounts may not be there' etc. What is the opinion of the wise BHPians on this? Am I being unreasonable or is the dealer being not very helpful?
You can DO IT! Atleast in maruti its reallly easy - no questions asked. Esp for swift :D

Why not, even if you have bookes it you have every roght to cancel the booking also.
Getting back to topic, Yes tell them the colour you want.
Yes you can. I changed the color of an i20 I booked in may from Red to Blue. I just called the dealer, and the agent said no problem, I'll get it done right away. Did not affect my waiting period either (which was 1 month at the time)
Only 3-4 days after booking, so ofcourse you can change the colour. For my Wagon-R we asked for a change in colour almost 20 days after booking and still it was accepted.
The dealer might be acting difficult IMHO.
You can change the color anytime you wish before a car is alloted to you.As a matter of fact, you can change it even after allotment in which case a new car will be alloted of your chosen color to you. This will increase the waiting period though.
Thanks for your support. I am feeling much better now:D I guess for a car that is not really selling like hot cakes - it might be tad difficult for the dealer but I'd stick to my choice. Once the car is booked - can they really change the price?
You can definitely change the colour. I guess the Dealer is doing this as it is not a fast moving car and he doesn't want to be stuck with an extra vehicle in his yard.
Yes, in normal cases you should be able to change color.
In few cases, where you book rare color and dealer takes an advance (50% or so). I believe in those cases, he wont entertain change in color.
Tell them to cancel the booking if they are not willing to change according to your requirements. I hope you have not paid more than 5k as booking amount.
How much you paid whilst booking the car?
Definitely you have the right to ask for a change the variant or colour
Imo, before registering a car, buyer can change or cancell the booking.
If the dealer still talking 'NO', write a letter/email to him asking to change the colour otherwise your intention is to cancell the booking.
You have the right to ask him for a change of color, While booking my friend swift we wanted white but later few days before delivery we decided on red and we got it without any fuss. If your dealer still continues to make a mes out of the situationn just chuk it, cancel the booking and hit some other dealer for the same. As soon as you say "cancel the booking" He might come down and say " it's possible to change color". They wont let a sale out of their hands as they are having tough times in the market as of now.
I changed the colour 3 times and Variant Twice after booking my Innova. Nandi people never complained and was very accomodative. :)
surely you can, without any fuss.May be dealer dont want to chuck another stock in his yard or may be wanted to clear out the one he has.Might be possible that you might need to wait if he does not have your choice of colour in stock to arrrive.
It is possible to change the color of the car post booking but as Cedia is a slow moving car the dealer might have sourced the black one specially for you, So his insistence deliver the car in the color you booked is not very unreasonable as he might have to keep the car in stock if he is not able to find a customer. BUT it is your right to get a car in the color you desire, you are paying for it.
