Hyundai Matrix

Saw a Hyundai Matrix this morning on Canal Bank road in Chennai. Initially it looked like a Getz from the front three quarter view but it was longer and seemed slightly taller. It was the same color as the picture on the Hyundai site.
The last time I had visited a Hyundai showroom they had pictures of this up on their walls and said this car/estate is expected in the near future. I had to go look up the Hyundai global site to get the name.
I couldnt decide if this was an international sighting or an Indian car scene post but felt this should go here as it is to come out in India eventually.

110PS Crdi, 103 and 120ps petrols (1.6L,1.8L), interesting engine options. At 6 lakh plus it will be like the fusion, sensible pricing would be same as accent (5.5L) for crdi.

5.5L for an Accent CRDI? Is that ex-showroom?

5.5 is for Accent Petrol. The matrix should be below Viva Crdi which is 6.9 ex showroom. Unless it sells for <6 for diesel, it will be a faliure as the the ford fusion

If the CRDI version sells for less than 6L; it will be one helluva package. Swift will have some real competition.

Matrix is very successful here in singapore. I believe 2 out of 5 hatchbacks you see in singpaore are matirx.

For the looks of the new Sonata, you should thank Honda and not Hyundai.. :-)

Well said. I think Swift has overshadowed Getz although I find Swift a TAD too old style design- Remindes me of beetel in Herbie

Strange, I thought the MATRIX was one of TOYOTA's hybrid vehicles.. Along the lines of Toyota Echo.. Atleast in the USA.. It would be bad on Hyundai's part to cash in on the name of TOYOTA's most successful hybrid vehicle..

Front looks like a blend of Safari & Getz, but rear isn't too appealing.
It would be interesting to see how they price the vehicle & wonder what engine options would be availble here. As with getz, 1.6 & CRDI is still a distant dream.
