Spotted: New Octavia, Aveo, mystery Marina.

Spotted a procession of the new Octy, Aveo and a Marina with test plates on Paud Road as I was leaving for college today. Only the Aveo was slightly disguised. The reason why I called the Marina mysterious is that it seemed slightly raised, and had alloys, and more importantly was fast. The guy was lagging behind due to the traffic and then suddenly decided he had enough.
All the three cars were on the opposite side of the road so I couldnt be really sure of what was exactly different with the Tata. If I wasnt headed for an exam, I would have turned back, followed them and snapped a few pics. Also, I would have had to travel around 1/2 Km down the road to take a U-turn.

Seems like you had a particularly nice day.
The Marina could have possibly been the Advent which is like the Adventure version of the Palio Weekend.
How did you like the new Octy. Expect to see it in dealerships soon.

Any chance they could dump a detuned version of their older 90bhp IDI engine into the indigos? Or are they too big/too loud for them?

It would be too loud and too crude for sedan duty I think. Not to mention too big for the engine bay. But we never know.

Dear Vivek,
Thanks for your patronage and continued interest in our brands.

With reference to your query, I would like to confirm that we have no immediate plans of launching an Indigo or Marina with a DICOR engine. Trust this resolves your query.

I may add here that the Indigo and Marina currently offer a Turbo Charged Inter-Cooled (TDI) engine on it's Bharat Stage III option. This engine delivers 70PS of power and is very fuel efficient too.

Pls do revert if you require any further information

Regards,

K Vijay Menon

Subject: Indigo Info???

Hi Guys,
I am in the market for a new midsize diesel sedan. Currently I drive a Indica diesel (KA 03 MB 7609). I would like to buy the Tata Indigo or the Marina provided you guys come with a DICOR engine. Is that happening soon?

I would really appreciate if you can give me a rough time frame as I can wait till the end of this year but not more...

Hoping you would reply to this Tata Motors fan...

Regards

No DICOR. I got that reply from the menon dude too. But I am sure its the sport, ie 85bhp petrol indica. They want to position it against the swift, and if the autocar track tests are any indication, this could be the best handler in its class

That is indeed the Indica Sport. Has an 85BHP indigo petrol engine, a firmer suspension, 185/60R14 tyres on 5 spoke alloy wheels, skirts, spoilers, aluminium centre console, gear ****, pedal.
The works.
