Thnx for that article man... I have been waitin for some confirmed news abt the likely launch date for BMW. Guess its gonna take almost a year more.... hmmm...was hoping they would launch sooner so that I can get my hands on the 5 series! Oh well....hopefully by 2007 they would have spruced up the car a little bit more so i hope its worth the wait. In the meantime I guess i will have to hunt for another merc replacement.

To answer your question...the price of the 3 and 5 will reduce ALOT! when produced locally as compared to importing one at the moment. So start saving up nice and hard haha.

Or they might just decide to leave the price alone and pocket the difference. They want people to think that Superb is a C-Class competetior. Its right in that ballpark.

Well i dont quite agree with that....yes at 22 lakhs its a C-class competetior but at 20 lakhs or below it will be a C-class KILLER! And also become an Accord,Camry competetior.

I don't think the price will drop a lot. Reading the article does not give an impression of BMW planning to manufacture anything here. It sounds like they'll import parts and assemble them here. If that is going to be the case, I don't believe the prices will drop a lot.

I second tsxei that the prices of the Beemers wont drop by much . The calculation is simple that BMW knows what Brand value they 've in india and they ll take the most out of it by overpricing their cars and why shoudn't they ? I mean when mnfs like Hyundai and Ford can overprice their vehicle ,i think BMW has the full rights !

I still feel superb is a C class killer .... Just take that 3 pointed star out of the bonnet and you ll immideately realise , its not worth more than 16-17 lacs .
Having said that a Merc is a Merc and at the end of the day thats what you really pay for .

In every market in the world, BMW models are about 5 - 10% cheaper than their Merc equivalent. It would be the same for India.
