New Suzuki Swift Sport with Pics! Will it make it to India Shortly?

Took some snaps of the Suzuki Swift Sport at the recently concluded Tokyo Motor Show 2005.

The Car has got a dual tone seat treatment( RED/Greysh Black) and red garnish on the side doors. Head lamp treatment, New look Front bumpers, rear tail lamps and etc,.

There was a SWIFT on display with a cut cross section.

The car was able to hold its own among the impressive lineup of cars.

No specs JK all of them were in Japanese and did not inquire as i dint have that much time to cover the entire show.

Keepin costs in mind, a Swift Sport with a tweaked Baleno engine would be lethal combination even if it is released by mid of next year in India..Agree?

A Swift 2door would be really hot, even tho' it won't sell in India. And before they bring this to India, they should be gettin rid of the Swift's known gearbox probs

Maybe you are referring to the ocassional noise that one gets when engaging the reverse gear. Ppl on this forum seem to think that its not a pblm ( this Pblm seems to be there in some other models as well) and can be easily avoided, which i believe is true.

I agree with vandan, untill the demand for Swift goes down(whihc i believe will take atleast a year or two) they wont change anything in Swift.

Btw I have driven a Swift & found the gear box to be quite good, so i was wondering what gearbox issue speopl are talikng abt ??

Ordinary people do not look for performance in this segment- witness slow sales of the Palio GTX / Accent Viva (if you can call it hot). People go for fully loaded, not fully powered - I doubt that we will see a hot Swift for quite a while - I hope I am wrong!

BTW - does a Baleno engine fit into an esteem or similar directly? Was under the impression that it is a different platform all together

@karthik: that's the pic of the conceptS, isn't it..? and oh, the swift does not have any so-caled gearbox problems...

and guys, the engine of the swift shown in the pic sports a DOHC; which means engine capacity will be definitely around 1.5, and power figures should be in the region of 120 bhp+. also, if you look at the exhaust, the manifold is a 2 by 2 into 1 type design (inners and outers). now, by looking at the engine alone, i can say that this would be one "juicy" ride. and therefore, i can say that this particular variant of the swift is unlikely to make it to our shores anytime in 2006. maybe by 2006-end, perhaps, when the aveo hatch, toyota aygo/yaris, etc. are launched by then...

Maybe as a special edition like the Zen 2 door it may come here but as a commercial model it will never make it here nor will any other 2 doorhatch, hot or cold
