Buy the Jeep, sell the engine. I'm sure you'll find a lot of takers for a brand new engine.

Then get a heart transplant. Is it 4WD?

It has to be. There's no reason for Mahindra to pull this one out after years. But limited production I think. Are they planning to plug in Scorpio's 4X4 engine? Not clear.

Thanked: Once

This Looks great! Won't mind buying it once it is out. The question is- would it be a true offroader?

I had a pleasant smile on my face when I read this.

And spoke to the Mahindra dealer at Nasik. They do not have any update as yet. They have said they'll update me as soon as they get any info.

It has been on the export area of the web site for a while. Remember this does not mean it will be made available in the Indian market again.

It would be nice to know where it is being exported to. I know the greek setup has stopped shipping and building the kits. They no longer sell in the UK. The aussie setup is also no longer selling the classic.

May be they sell them in Africa/Latin America/ Asia Pacific.
It may again sell in the UK/Australia, if they manage to shoehorn the 2.6 common rail engine into it.

Classic verstion was 100% export purpose only, though it was available in Indian market as well.. so let us hope it will happen again!

But chaps can anyone please make sure about this news with any Mahindra dealer? If true, then when will be the delivery date of new bies, price etc..

Really looking for a brand new in hand!!!

Salikt: According to a source, there is no production of the Classic planned. It is rarely exported in small numbers on order.

going by the mods he has done, this cud be nothing compared to GTO's Mahindra. I even remember reading somewhere that original classic can only do 70 kmph comfortably.

well, it does'nt seem to be coming anyway.

1998 re-visited

Guys! I clicked that link and saw the photograph there. The photo does not exhibit anything new; back in 1998 I wanted to buy a black CLASSIC and even paid 70,000/- (I’m not so sure what the exact figure was… it’s been years) or so as advance. After months and months of waiting, I cancelled the order. A few months after I had cancelled my order, they called and told me they had a CLASSIC they could give me, but by then, I had bought an Esteem98 VX. Coming back to the point, I saw the same model in a huge display picture back in 1998 at India Garage, Chennai.
