Maruti Stockyard At Nagpur

According to The Hitavada, a Nagpur newspaper report dated 20/08/2010, Maruti (MSIL) intends to construct a huge stockyard at Butibori Industrial Estate, about 30 kms away from Nagpur for speedy delivery of cars to their respective destinations.Senior officials from MSIL had visited the area on 18/08/2010 and have finalised acquisition of about 100 acres of land. The stockyard will accommodate about 25,000 vehicles and according to MSIL, this can ensure speedier deliveries of specific models, variants and colours, as customers are seen switching over to other brands seeing the longer waiting time for some Maruti models.
The company is also planning to invest Rs 200 crores to construct similar stockyards in the North, South, East and West, apart from this one in Central India.Bangalore has been earmarked in the South with an area of 25 acres of land for a stockyard.
These stockyards according to MSIL will help it further consolidate its position in the market.

Todays news report says that MSIL has been allotted about 42 acres of land by the Govt of Maharashtra in the Butibori Industrial Estate.
The local industrialists were also very interested that MSIL come at their place for company and to aid progress and developmental activities.
The stockyard is expected to serve the needs of the region, for all the Maruti models line-up.

Re: Maruti Stockyard At Nagpur

An update on this topic. Yesterday (16/02/2012) a top MSIL marketing official with his team were at Nagpur and have confirmed that the 42 acre stockyard near Butibori (a suburb of Nagpur) will be functional by April 2012. It will stock new cars for delivery and also spares (MGP of course) for ease of supply.
MSIL is to have four such stockyards at (1) Nagpur (2) Bangalore (3) Siliguri and lastly at an yet undecided location in East India. These will help ease the demand according to him given the long waiting lists some models have.
He also spoke of the newly proposed manufacturing plant in Sanand, Gujarat, which when operational will help the company export the cars to the Western markets (Europe has demand for MSIL cars he says) apart from meeting domestic demands.
MSIL is seriously foraying into the rural markets he says, with the increasing rural household incomes.MSIL has thousands of marketing personnel who are located in rural areas and are helping rev up Maruti sales in the hinterland.

Re: Maruti Stockyard At Nagpur

I dont understand this logic? How will an additional parking lot ease up the demand / delivery constraints? From what I know, the most delayed products are the ones which have the maximum demand and which Maruti is not able to produce as per the demand. And also these cars, as soon as manufactured are shipped from the factory! In such a scenario, why would they need such a parking place?
