What happens to old cars (& bikes)?

That a very good question, will be great to know if in our country too we have salvage yards, this might help people who intend to keep their old workhorse to get some spare parts. Though I am not sure or have any information of such in our country

Sorry to wake up a sleeping thread. I have been piqued by this question of scrapping a car in case one wishes to. Can someone tell me:
a) what is the legal procedure to scrap a car in Delhi? Is there anyone who specialises in arranging the necessary permits from the RTO?

b) once approvals are in place, where exactly is the scrap market?

c) How does one establish the price point for the car to be scrapped?

Even my car being 14 years old. I still take care of it. I still fill oil, even with a leaking oil sump. Going for scrap anyways in this year end on its birthday. Its gonna be sad day.
