Hyundai launches i20 with satellite navigation

Hyundai has equipped the i20 Asta version (both petrol and diesel) with an in-dash satellite navigation and entertainment system.

The 2 DIN system boasts of a 5-inch LCD touch screen which enables the driver access to satellite-based voice-guided navigation. The navigation system consists of pre-loaded maps for most major cities with important locations like restaurants, hotels, hospitals and malls pre-marked.

The system also doubles up as an in-car entertainment unit with video playback from USB and iPod. The driver will be able to manage the system via steering mounted controls. The i20 Asta Petrol with the navigation system is priced at Rs. 630,439 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Oh this is great news, have to see how much extra this costs. Good that they are upgrading on a regular basis to stay in business.

This is really WOW!
I am so glad to see Hyundai is providing the latest equipments on their cars and making them compatible with the models in the advanced countries.
I think Hyundai clearly is changing the game big time. Kudos to Hyundai!

+1 to that. Instead of making jump with all features at once, Hyundai is taking it nice and easy. On board GPS and Bluetooth is a good deal. After the introduction of Bluetooth connectivity in the new i10, it was expected to be launched in the i20, but the GPS was a real surprise. One thing i like here is that Hyundai has kept the GPS in dash system as OPTIONAL and not every ASTA owner would really want it. So spend that little extra if you need it.

A prospective i20 owner might already be using independent GPS modules (SATNAV or MAPMYINDIA ETC.)and would not want to pay that extra.

Kudos to Hyundai. Making a Good car even Better :)

Awesome!!

Hyundai is really upping the Premium Hatch game and as of now, there is no catching them when we look at the i20 sales figures.

Well done Hyundai..:thumbs up . I am really happy to see the Hyundai update there products consistently unlike Manufacturers. I am even more happy to see all features are coming in both Petrol and diesel versions unlike Maruti and Nissan providing features only in there Petrol versions.

Good job. I like the trend, and hopefully more manufacturer's follow the suit for new models.

Anyone knows, whether it is possible to fit AVN for existing models/cars?

Same Question here... really interested in getting one fixed on my i20 as well.
Any insight of fitting in existing cars.

wildon where are you?

i am not too sure about the fittment on existing i20 variants. These are probably factory fitted and hence getting this done at dealers is highly doubtful. The best way to get this doubt sorted is to call up one of the Hyundai dealers and getting an estimate if at all it can be done. If its possible, i am sure there would quite a few wanting to upgrade this in their cars.

Now that's Uber Cool! I think it is the 1st hatch in India to come with an optional GPS feature (not sure, do correct me). But that will put the i20 in deep executive sedan pricing turf. At that price, people may prefer an SX4/Linea/Vento. Risky business Hyundai is playing! Good option to have nonetheless!

Wow! Hyundai rocks. The i-20 has features that can put cars like Cedia and Civic to shame.

Who is the HU and map supplier BTW? Hope this will make it to the i-10 as well.

Maruti need to really catchup more on user friendly features in their hatchback (especially swift) to give a stiff competition to Hyundai i20 features. Day-by-day Hyundai cars are becoming more "new" customers friendly car

New customers who usually think to buy only maruti car, would be relooking at their decision, if maruti doesn't change the way they sell cars.:)

Just one question - Is this satellite navigation system different from a GPS or both are one at the same or how different is satellite navigation from GPS?

B.E.A.utiful statement

Now Maruti probably will shamelessly copy the same & call it another variant that comes with the same feature!!!

Another great reason to consider the i20. Polo and Jazz looks ages behind when compared to the features that i20 has to offer.
