Maruti already has more than 2,00,000 cars on road with DDiS engine so FIAT is not supplying the engine to Maruti.

The following statement is from Wikipedia:

"The Fiat Powertrain Technologies is a part the Fiat Group, which includes all the activities related to powertrains and transmissions to Fiat Automobiles (Fiat Powertrain) Iveco (Iveco Motors), Centro Ricerche Fiat and Elasis.
The company was formed in March 2005, following the dissolution of joint venture with General Motors."

The final share transfer for the plant happened only in 2010 and GM still holds IP rights for the 1.3L and 1.9L MJD engines.

Excerpts from the article -
Quote:
The factory became a shared property of Fiat and GM in February 2005 when the two companies terminated their five-year alliance and is the last remaining tie between the two companies.

As part of the 2005 separation agreement, GM received a 50 percent stake in Fiat's Bielsko-Biala engine plant as well co-ownership of the intellectual property of the 1.3-liter diesel engine, which has been built at the factory since April 2003.

GM also received co-ownership of a 1.9-liter diesel produced by Fiat in Pratola Serra, Italy and by GM Europe in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
