On the face of it this is a very good decision,
There may be improvements albeit small ones on other front as well which would be clear once launched. So if its a Nano then it could be 2013 for sure. However waiting for diesel at this point of time is a long ask.

My dad has booked a 2013 model yesterday. No discounts for this one and expected delivery time is 25 days.
Nobody there has a clue whether any changes are done in 2013 model or not.So we took the gamble and booked the 2013 model.
Price is around 2.67L. Only white is available in the first batch.
Will post once i get more information on the new model.

Hello Rock18,

Congrats on booking a Nano for your family. Wish you safe & happy journey in this new possession of yours

No discount & delivery time of 25 days clearly means that most probably the new (2013 refresh) model is not expected soon.

Nano in white color looks really good & we are looking forward to reading your buying experience & initial review soon.

Thanks,

I do feel that the Nano as a concept and idea could have been ground braking. Unfortunately the price point is just not acceptable which reflects in very poor sales figures.

If the top end version would have been priced on-road about 1.5 Lakh I could see a lot of people being interested.

But if one can buy an Alto800 for just about 60k more I really do understand why noone opts in for a nano.

As mentioned by fellow users Tata Nano should be customizable (check Fiat500 / Mini in Europe) and better prized.

Or if Tata really would want to make a mark with their car. Just make the Nano electric (range 100km) and price it around 2 Lakh. I certainly would buy one :thumbs up

AFAIK, Nano is a good 1 lakh cheaper than the Alto800, that too with much better equipment levels. I honestly believe if the 20k people buying Alto were to really Test Drive them both back to back then theres NO chance they can say the Nano is inferior.

Kind of a generic sweeping statement to make, but yes, thats my opinion after having owned one since 3 years. Honestly, even the ownership cost is next to nothing except fuel costs.

I had to renew my car insurance today & happened to see the 2013 Nano at KHT's Indiranagar Branch in Bangalore.

TATA seems have increased the Ex-Showroom Prices by just Rs.5K for every variant.
They're now providing Alpine music systems.
Roofline reduced by 2.5cms inside.
Seats seemed the same as 2012 versions.
Music system HU looked better integrated to the central console.
Power Window switches are before the gear stick & theres a storage bin for phones / change.
GloveBox seemed of better quality. Takes away abit of space, but utility of having a closed glovebox is good.

They didn't have any brochures or TD vehicles. Those would supposedly arrive by 4th or 5th August.
Also, no offers / schemes for the 'Nano Refresh' (as they call it).
Nothing great to take pictures specifically, its the as same we've seen here on T-bhp's 'Horizonext' thread.

Q to Experts : Can we add the Ritz Tacho to Nano?

IMHO, The problem started when they dint do any sort of PR work or Advertising in the initial periods. They thought the car would sell itself. It could have, but it just needed a small push. People and 'Media' started giving the tag 'Cheap Car' and TATA dint do anything to change it, and the tag struck to the car like superglue. When the car launched, people expected the roads to be choked with Nano's, thankfully it dint, but that was bad news for TATA. Had they woken up in the first 2 months, things would have been much better for them. When the car was launched TATA should have made a carnival out of it, they dint, and now I think its very very difficult to turn it around.

We see more adds for Rs.8/- Pepsi or Coke than for Rs.1000/- Jeans. Why? because cheaper products have to sell more units to make a profit. Same way, TATA should have changed their mindset that Nano is car, they should have viewed it as a product that should sell in particular numbers.

All in all, i think, Nano is a great product and has exceptional potential. By some media marketing blitzkrieg they can do themselves a lot of good even now...

Tata Nano - Will it ever sell in vast numbers?
