The odo is high and you will be a third owner. For the price it does not worth. Further, true value would not entertain bargain to a great extent, may be to 3-4 k maximum.

1. 2005 Maruti Baleno Vxi, Run 50K, 2nd Owner - Final Price @ Rs.2.75L
2. 2001 Honda City 1.5 Exi, Run 63K, 3rd Owner - Final Price @ Rs. 2.10L

My budget is only around 2.0L... Will be used mainly for city driving in Bangalore...
Both cars are maintained fairly well, but OHC interiors do show some age...
The Baleno is a huge stretch in terms of my budget... Is it worth it?...
I will be using the car myself for the next two years atleast, will be selling it off after that to upgrade to a bigger car then...

How is the service history? As in, at 83k, a lotta things would be changed like suspension, brake pads, clutch plate etc etc. Tyres/battery?

If it is in really good condition, you could have expected ~1.6 lakhs.. but since its True Value, its bound to be more..

But 83k n 2 owners already, think you should give it a pass for that price..

Considering Bangalore market for Baleno, its a great buy. Baleno is well appreciated in Tbhp for being an allrounder.

The options that come in mind are a:
1. Corolla (older model not Altis) and save a few lakhs
2. A "almost new (read as less than 5k on the odo)" i20 Asta with sun roof
3. SX4 Zxi

I am a newbie to buying a used car. I have 2 deals in front of me as follows:

a) Honda Civic V MT(Mar '08) 6000 kms run - violet color. car is first owner driven. The dealer is asking me for 11.3 lacs here in bangalore and with his commision.,I will shell out 11.57 L from my pocket.

b) Skoda Laura Ambiente TDI CR (Jun '10) 9000 kms run, Cappucino Beige color. Its second owner and I will be the 3rd owner. Dealer is asking for 13 Lacs all inclusive.

Which do you think is a better deal for me, considering the fact that I am going to keep the car for another 4 years atleast.

Which is a good option financially and from a reliability point of view in the long run. The car also should not burn a hole in my pocket in terms of huge maintenance costs.

Also after 4 years which car do you think will sell easily so that I can change it. Appreciate your help. Its kind of urgent. Thanks

I will not be able to comment on whether your getting a good deal on the price or not because I'm not expert and I have no experience in this field, But i would strong suggest that you avoid the Skoda, The fact that it's getting a 3rd owner in six months, something is definitely fishy!

How much has it run ? Regardless it should be somewhere around 4.5L if you haggle hard.

I'd say run... someone I know struggled to sell a 7K run '08 violet Civic for 9.5L, where on earth is this dealer quoting so much?

Is the Laura discontinued 1.9 or current selling 2.0? The Ambiente is the basic variant but meets all minimal comfort. Check the OTR and service history (more scrutiny reqd. since its got 2 owners in 6 months). Proceed if you can get 35~40% off the sticker price.
