I have put my 2009 Getz CRdi for sale across a few seller platforms for ~4L
( Kind of realised its not a realistic price since I'm not attracting buyers for quite some time now).
The car has clocked 73200KM as of now and is in great condition both in and out. What is a good price that I can expect. Please advise.
Skoda Laura 2.0 CR L&K DSG June 2011 with 38K under the odo is available for sale at the reputed dealer in chennai. I was told this car was used by their dealership GM in chennai with all service records in place. Asking price is 15L negotiable. Extended warranty is available till next year (2015).
I went to the showroom to book Rapid diesel and when heard about the Laura my heart skipped in its favor hence returned home empty handed.
Car: Honda City V MT
Year: 2011 (Aug)
ODO ~ 22000
Location: Kerala
Car is in very good condition. Owner is asking 6.5L, what would be the best price for this car?

My youngest brother is planning to buy a Skoda Octavia (2003, Diesel) sparingly used and well maintained by a college principal. How much can he shell out to buy it? The owner is quoting 2,50,000.
Is it worth the price or should we negotiate more on it? |
Just walk away from it because the spares & service will burn a rather big hole in your pocket. The reason being its already 10 years old which is ripe for various spares which needs to be changed.

15L is pretty pricey for this car. Skodas depreciate like anything. A 3 year old Skoda sedan with DSG would typically have lost 40-60% of its value depending upon condition. Another factor is that an entirely new model has already replaced the car in question. No matter how reputed the dealer is or how well the car has been kept I would pay a max of 12L for this. L&K DSG would have cost around 20L on road in 2011 (dont just go by ex-showroom - these models usually have hefty cash discounts) and hence a max of 12L.

A good way to judge prices in your area is - take it to a few dealers and tell them you want to sell this car. Ask them what they are willing to pay. Do this at 3-4 dealers, average out the price they quote and add another 10% to that average. You should have your realistic price. And I guess it should be around 3-3.25L.

Thanks for the advice. But my brother claims that the car is in immaculate condition. Hence, we will have a look at it first before taking any decision.

How much has it run? 2.5L itself looks good if there is NO work that needs to be done immediately. Any reason why the car is quoted low ? Skoda's (diesel) usually are NOT that cheap in the used market (especially down south). Hope you have enough money parked in for any urgency that may arise - Skoda's are neither cheap to service.
You may ask 2L and try to close the deal at 2.25L. |
The only reason car is quoted such a low price is that the owner is a family friend.:) My brother claims that the car is in good condition.
We are still bargaining. No surprises if we can claim the car for 2 lakhs as well:I Rule:

I would say keep looking, and be flexible to buy an older car (2011 or 2010) if you happen to find a decent example. |
Astars untill 2011 had darker interiors that make it feel extra-claustrophobic. Few of the pre-2012 models that I test drove also had weaker brakes compared to their 2012-2013 counterparts. Not sure if they were isolated cases tho.
But, your are right, I need to keep my eyes pealed for 2010-2011 models as well. I wish there would come a time when buying an automatic hatchback is not such a long and painful ordeal. The wait is killing me, I think I am gonna buy a used Honda City AT and park it outside.
Also, couldn't find Astar ATs at true value outlets and the various other dealerships have followed their usual crazy pricing approach. Also, I tend to stay away from such dealerships, as they usually are annoying, boastful and pushy at best.

+1
We are in the same boat. I am also looking for a pre-worshiped A-star AT. And the prices quoted are nothing short of ridiculous. I think the long wait for Celerio AMT is adding to it. Once the AMT backlog clears up, the prices are going to tumble.

My preference is for the 2011 models as I can't stand the new beige ones. :)

I am in Kerala and looking for cars with KL registration at the moment.
Guys, checked the classifieds, saw a good clean VTEC 2002, for 2.5 lakhs. Should I take the bite?
What would be the spares cost?
Any other car I can look for in the same budget?

Utsav, This price is a bit high considering the model to be 12 year old. It should not be more than 1.75 Lakhs or at maximum 2 Lakhs in exceptional condition. Try out a good Lancer in case you get one.
Thanks
Your Location is NCR.
That car isnt worth more than a lakh.
2.5L can get you a much better car.
