What is the maximum I can ask for a 2013 Vento Comfortline 1.6 TDi, fitted with VW alloys, showroom condition, run just 12.5k kms.

A random search on cartrade websites brought me to a few VW POLO 1.6 petrols.
Quoted prices are usually in range of 3.5-38 for 2010-2011 models and mileages around 50k.

This got me real interested. Does anybody have any ideas as to what kind of prices would make sense.
Also wondering aloud if the POLO 1.6 makes sense at all.
Very low running ~800Kms expected

By the way, I see many Ikon 1.3s going very cheap (compared to other cars). They say Ikons are going cheap because of expensive spares. How true is that? When they say expensive, how expensive are they compared to, say, a City or Lancer?

I see the car is pretty good with nice build.

Since Lancers and Citys in good condition seem to be 'rare' in the used car market here, I have included the Ikon 1.3 in my list. Saw an OLX ad for a 2004 Ikon flair. Run 81,000km. Owner claims to have detailed service records. So how much life could be left in the car? I am planning to keep the car for two years.

I will go see the car tomorrow afternoon.

Went used car shopping/selling with a friend today.

To sell:
2013 January i10 Magna, run 18,800 km
Regularly serviced at Hyundai A$S
Offered 3 lac at Hyundai Advantage
I am expecting ~3.5 lac
What is the public opinion?

To buy:
The only car which looked interesting was:
2013 Toyota Etios Liva Sportivo edition (diesel)
Run 59,700 km
Took her for a short test drive (~1 km) - didn't find anything grossly wong
Price quoted - 5 lac, though they quickly came down to 4.8
What should be a realistic offer for the Liva?

What is the max that I can pay for a 2006 baleno which is modified with new alloys, low profile rubbers and cold air intake. It has run around 64000 kms and also has some more modifications.

Owner is quoting 3 lakhs for this. Please let me know.

Where is this?
In Delhi, I was scouting around about a month back, and the max I saw was 2l ,negotiable. One was going for 90k,the lowest I saw.

Thanks Mayank for the reply. This car is at Bangalore. The prices here are little high but I should also say that this particular car has lot of customizations and accessories. I am planning to go and have a look at the car today to check.

Typically, nobody pays anything for customizations. Tell him to remove what he wants, and based on how much he wanted extra, deduct the same.
3l even for Bangalore is a bit high.

Thanks Mayank for your reply. Unfortunately I passed this offer up as the owner was not ready to come down below 3. :Frustrati

My search continues!

Sorry for so many questions as I need a car urgently but dont want to compromise on the FTD factor. Saw one 2003 palio s10 which has run 65K kms and has been quoted at 1.5 lakhs. It has an issue with the fuel injector and also white smoke coming out from exhaust. there is a big drop in mileage because of this is what the owner says. I am planning to check this out.

Any idea guys what the issue might be?

Palio is a strict no no for me, obvious reasons age and spare issues. 1.5L for a S10 is outrageous, people will not pay even 75K for it, in Bangalore too. If you want real FTD factor you should look at the old Fiesta 1.6. Plus the mods you can do on it. You will get a good one with less mileage for about 2-2.5. No other car can match its handling in this budget not a Baleno or the Honda city. The engine is only next best to the VTech though.

Avoid Palios with engine problems. Big bills for sure while repairing.

1.5L for a S10 is not that outrageous. I sold my S10 for a bit less than that number, run lot more, missing several worrriginal parts but mechanically perfect. Ad was barely up for 6 hours before it was sold.

There is a BHPian who has spent a lot on modding his fiesta 1.6 but the end result wasn't upto his expectations.

Palios can hold a candle upto Balenos and Hondas quite easily. The palio engine has better low end than hondas as well.

If you're still not convinced, here's an audio clip of my S10 :D Stock exhaust + muffler by the way

White smoke from petrol engines is not a good sign. Generally means oil getting burnt. An engine rebuild is on the cards.

Vento Highline MT Petrol. Nov 13 manufactured. Jan 14 registered. 12k kms done. Owner saying hes got a standing offer for 7.75l. Immaculately maintained with bumper to bumper insurance. Sounds good? Service history and papers are all available.
