Thanks for the reply Chetan. What sort of a price do you think is reasonable? Although its a TD vehicle, i was thinking the remaining warranty (3.5 yrs) plus 2 yrs extended warranty will take care of any abuse and premature transmission/engine problems? |
There's nothing wrong with buying a car with decent mileage on it, but those 8k kms have probably not included any sort of careful driving or mechanical empathy for the car. You don't want an abused car just because it has warranty, it doesn't cover peace of mind even if parts cost you nothing:)
If I
had to buy it, I wouldn't pay any more than about 70-75% of its retail ex-showroom price.
P.S. If buying used isn't an issue for you, look outside. For that kind of money, you could find well-cared-for specimens with a single driver history.
Planning to sell my 2016 March BMW X5 done about 49000km. The car is in Coimbatore,Tamil Nadu. The car has been completely maintained by BMW dealer at Coimbatore. Kindly suggest me a fair price from which I can start negotiating.
Skoda Superb 3rd Gen TSI
I have come across 2 Seperb Style 1.8TSI AT both 2016 models with 41K/22K in the price range of 14.5 - 18L.
What would be a fair value of Superbs of that vintage. And what are the things that I should look out for?
What would be a good price to pay for an October 2019 Ciaz Delta Petrol?
It's done 25k kms, slightly on the higher side for a 5 month old car. Owner has a few small businesses at distant locations and has already purchased another Ciaz (Automatic) as a replacement. My friend is considering this car seriously but the owner is not budging below 9 lakhs.
Brand new Ciaz Delta is 10 lakhs on road as of now after discounts.

A 10 percent depreciation is way too low. No sense going for it.

I agree with both of you. 9 lakhs is on the higher side for that car. What would be the ideal price to offer from our side before we walk away from the deal? Can't think of anything lower than 8.5 lakhs as the car is less than 6 months old.
Ford Figo titanium 2012 1.4 lac driven. Transferred within family but driven by only 1 driver. ICE will only include the company fitted head unit (unless good offer for current ICE). Do let me know if anyone interested or what's a good price to sell it at. My expectation 1.5 lacs excluding speakers woofer and amplifiers
PS: Current ICE morel front and back + focal woofer + 4+2 channel amplifier

Less than 6 months old but, tyres have run almost 50% of its life, done two services at least. Do check on that. First year depreciation would roughly be 20-25%. Chances are your friend wouldn't even run 25k in a year.

If the tyres haven't been balanced and aligned at regular intervals, that 25k km will be 100% of its life due to uneven wear.
Hi Guys. Posting this on behalf of my cousin who is moving out of the country and wants to sell his 14.5 year old Swift.
He wants to know the approximate amount of tax that needs to be paid at the end of the 15 year mark. Some of the prospective buyers are asking him this.
Also, is there a Green Tax that needs to be paid.
Note: His Swift is MH 02 registered and has run 75K kms. As of now he got a quote of 80K from dealers.
To Mods: Just in case I posted this on a wrong thread, I do apologize.

I think 80K is a very fair assessment. If your cousin wants to sell it on his own, he may get max 15-20K.
My wife recently sold her 10 Yr Old 1.15L km run Swift LXI to a dealer for 1.15L. So I think what you are getting is decent. Coz no headache and immediate cash.

Thanks MC. Also, considering he is leaving the country it could be wise to go through a dealer.
To All - Any inputs on the amount of the taxes that need to be paid?
I'm seeing a 12,000 Km run 2017 Tata Hexa XTA (6 seater, single owner) listed at 14 lakhs in Chennai with a dealer. Various used car valuation tools put it at 10 lakhs roughly at the most.
I'm curious as to why a car that costs 23 lakh on road when new would be valued by valuation tools only at 10 lakhs only 3 years down the line? It is merely a 2017 model...

I saw one with a similar configuration at Spinny in Bengaluru listed for 12.5L. Don't remember how much it had run though. I think it was above 40k.
10L is too less in my limited understanding. OBV puts it at 13.1 to 13.9L for very good condition.
