Hi,

I must say quite a GR8 R&D by Ford.

"To ensure integrity of our tests, we actually imported 42,000 litres of Indian fuel for use in engine and durability testing," said Mr Dietsch.

Now i came to know why Petrol and Diesel prices are hiked

WTH is a dog bar.

And where is the special shelf for the religious Idol. The IP is same as
the Euro Fiesta. I'm surprised he didnt say that Indians are obssed with FE.

Nice work by Ford India..I don't think they've mentioned all this information on their official website - www.fordfiesta.in
Importing Indian Unleaded fuel is really really commendable for full proof testing..

These included a requirement for additional head space in the vehicle – to allow room to allow for men's turbans
That is funny, exaggerated nonsense!!

Not exactly. I read in ACI that the first thing Ford Engrs did was to prepare a list of leasons they learnt from the Ikon and make sure that they were put to in use in Fiesta. One example would be the highly raked Rear Parcel Shelf in the Ikon and it has been adressed. So they could have also worked on the headroom. Definetly they wouldn't have increased the height of the ceiling! but there are other ways to compensate like the seat height for example.

Ford needs to be given credit for the work they have done for the Indian Fiesta. Remember we are living in a country where car makers change the head/tail lights to a multireflector/jewel effect and claim that their car is a ALL NEW ONE. It's worse for Bikers, just add some stickers and claim them to be ALL NEW

Haa haaa haaaa... Reminds me of the New Splendour that Hero Honda launched. Everything was the same barring that bulbous headlight glass and some stickers slapped left, right and center

And btw, what is a dog bar?!!! I heard of bull bars (I am sure Fiesta does not have one) but a dog bar!

A dog bar is a very valid piece of equipment (in India) to protect the cooling system components in the event of hitting a dog.. Friend of mine hit a dog at 100kmph+ on highway in his Accent GTX, a few KM down, his engine siezed up. The radiator bottom sump (made of plastic) had broken and all coolant leaked out. Major, expensive repairs were needed to engine.

Kudos to Ford for thinking about this ..

Aw shucks! You mean there is actually something like a dog bar? Ok... Anyways, does not the front bumper protect the sump? I mean, the sump should be hanging below the front bumper to take the hit.

A 20kg dog at 100kmph is enough to brake through your bumper defenses and ruin your radiator. In case of a dog you may be let of lightly, but a 100kg pig is a bigger nightmare.

But on indian highways you really need bull bars

Haa haa haaaa... You have a point. Net net, on a light-weight car these things have an "iffy" utility.

Dog bars are needed for cars, not for trucks
