Dear New MD of schkhoda

Please shed the premium tag on your cars which are otherwise up there with the best!

So a European is taking over Skoda India. We have seen the mess Europeans made of Fiat India. I hope Lucas Folc doesn't turn Skoda India into another Fiat.

First sensible job - Stop selling two variants of the same damned car!

Second - Pull up your dealers socks in after sales service (especially in Bombay)

Why put to rest the Old Octavia?

Hi GTO
I understand from many of your posts that you are unhappy over Skoda launching the New Octavia as the LAURA at a higher price.
I accept that Skoda shouldn't have launched the car at a higher price but why shouldn't they continue sell the Old Octavia? I mean say if a person has 13 L ONLY and wants to buy a good german engineered Diesel Car and doesn't bother if it has DSG or PD or that extra rear leg room, the Old Skoda Octavia still suits him and is VFM for him. There was nothing so bad with the old car that it's production should be stopped right?

I can understand that cars like Maruti 800,Omni,Qualis(already stopped),Esteem should be stopped but I'm not convinced that the Old Octavia should be stopped. May be is it the segment that is making the difference?

Also GTO what do think is the price at which the LAURA Diesel DSG Automatic should have been launched?

Kishore,

Simply put - Replace the old Octy with the New one. Of course, they can charge a premium for the DSG. Buttttttttttttttttttt that does not mean that they cannot offer a standard 5 ratio box at a lower price too.

This topic has been extensively discussed in the Skoda Laura launch thread.

Looks like Hassen had to follow Sumantran's footsteps. Wonder if this had anything to do with the pricing of the Laura.

I hope the new MD rationalises the prices for SKoda Laura.

I think 16-onroad is the max Someone would want to pay.
