Toyota Corolla Altis facelift spied | Autocar India

Makes so much sense with Honda planning to get in the 2011 Civic im assuming by March or so. The facelift will ensure that the Corolla remains new in the eyes of buyer.

Altis needs a revamp very badly, as we expect new Civic in 2011.

When Etios diesel is launched, both Altis and Etios will have the same mil and this would kill Altis diesel sale which is already dying.

It will be smarter move if they come with a 1.6 liter petrol engine and 1.8 Liter diesel engine, this should give some serious competition.

I like the rear, as compared to the current altis. Cant say too much about the front though

Anyway, if they are to stay competitive, they would need to offer a few extra features as well. I never could figure out the Altis Diesel and especially the 1.4 spec engine. It really defied logic in my opinion, for a car of that stature and segment

This really needs the new engine now. India is the only market they have the old 1ZZ-FE.

The AT 4 speed box is also outdated. Time to bring in the new 8 speed CVT.

the only thing which is a step forward are the alloys, and they aren't coming. its another civic-ish yaaawwwwnnnnfacelift

If what I remember is correct (reading in some auto mag.), the facelifted Altis have engine updates (Dual VVTi) and a 7-speed auto box.

If it only a face-lift and no mechanical change - why test the car on streets?

You have a valid point here. I hope they bring out powerful engines both in Diesel and Petrol mated to all new auto-transmission.

I was hoping that Toyota would have done something to camouflage the ugly bonnet shut line in facelifted Altis. But from the pictures the shut line is clearly visible.:Frustrati

Hi Camchennai,

Altis was the segment leader for December Sales. Even beat the Cruze. How did you come to the conclusion that Altis is dying? Can you please enlighten us?

Hi 4 x 4

What Camchennai meant was when Etios is launched with the same diesel engine as the Altis - the 1.4 L D-4D, then Altis D will be in trouble. Not many would like to buy a car @ 14 Lakhs when the same engine is available in a car at 7 Lakhs.

The new civic is coming in late fall 2011/early 2012.

Well, the 'new' 2011 Corolla in US still has the same 132bhp output from the 1.8 mill. And it only has a 4-speed AT. So, i think there is no chance India gets anything better. 1.6l engine option could be a possibility like another poster mentioned.
