Maruti hikes vehicles prices

And, now we have the effects of inflation showing on car vehicles.

Maruti has said they have hiked the prices of most models as of Jan. 17th.

Read the whole article :

Maruti hikes prices of vehicles by up to Rs 8,000 - The Times of India

Any idea if other manufacturers are to follow cue?

Re: Maruti hikes vehicles prices

Sooner or later all the manufacturers will be forced to increase. The inflation is going-up uncontrollably. There was news last year that from New Year, the car cost will go up.

That happened quite a while ago. When we bought Dad's Figo just after Diwali, the price correction was awaited. I remember clearly because the Sales Manager tried to rip us off by charging the correction amount after promising that he won't (as we'd booked for the earlier price and were paying in full).

Re: Maruti hikes vehicles prices

^^^
I think what Acclero is mentioning is the price hike effective 1 Jan 2011.
The price is up from 6.09 L to 6.21 L in Pune (OTR for Figo D Titanium). This is around 12 K increase.

That would mean Ford has hiked prices twice in 3 months.

P.S. We had paid 5.09L OTR for 1.2P Titanium, while the dealer was demanding 5.17L price corrected.

Re: Maruti hikes vehicles prices

The input costs have gone up i.e., raw materials like plastic, steel, rubber from 20-30%. This was inevitable.

Re: Maruti hikes vehicles prices

I just hope that the price hike justifies the quality of materials that these manufacturers are using in their cars & that they don't go about doing more stupid things to cut costs.

Drive safe.
