Less than a day to go now for the international launch now.

Seems strange posting this. Probably one of the first times we have seen test mules of a car in India, when it hasnt actually been launched anywhere in the world.

Honestly speaking even at 55L Ex-Showroom, the dynamic model is perfectly well priced and if you look up the UK price lists or anywhere else, this car is not exactly something one should compare to X1, Q3 which are just not even remotely close to this machine in terms of quality and style. Really check out the X1 before comparing it to this car, it has no appeal at all near this.

Also do look at dimensions, its an extremely wide car with the width at 77.4 Inch compared to 70 and 72 for the X1 and Q3 and in terms of height it's 65.6 Inch which is a little taller than the Q5 too which is again a league above the Q3/X1 whose heights are 63/60.4 Inch.

That should give one a better idea of on road presence it's a lot masculine,

Be it looks or quality or the capability of the vehicle the car is unmatched by any X1 / Q3 class of cars, and those who do not wish to spend more will always have the option of the lower end Pure variant, and initially the numbers maybe low, but once the CKD operations start this car will and should perhaps be at the top of its class in terms of setting a benchmark, numbers is not everything it's aspiration value itself will be a huge boost to the group.

Also I do believe even after the CKD operations begin expect this car to still be priced close to X3 and not X1, and it rightfully deserves to be there.

Regards,

P.S None of my comments are meant to offend any X1 / Q3 they are nice cars but only cars while the evoque does offer a lot better scope for going off road.

Found this picture of Evoque and Q5 next to each other!

Evoque launch in Nov 2011. Ex-showroom prices 52L - 58L. Bangalore dealer getting 6 vehicles for Nov - Dec 2011...all sold out!

Production sold out till June 2012 (in UK)...India getting few pre-customized cars (due to homologation). Not possible to virtually build the India spec cars on any LR site!

LR positioning RRE above X3 & Q5 and below X5 & Q7 in India.

Saw the Evoque at ARAI the other day! It has a terrific road presence.

Link to ACI review of the LR Evoque:

Evoque review and test drive Review

In dimensions it is comparable to Audi Q3, but refined & much better off-road.

I have my doubts on the Evoque's rear seats. There are very few pictures available of rear seats nor is much mentioned of it in the reviews. I hope its doesn't have the X6 treatment? Two seater at the back with horrible headroom.

RANGE ROVER EVOQUE SUV INDIA LAUNCH CONFIRMED FOR NOVEMBER 2011. Prices in India are expected to begin at around INR 50 Lakhs for the base diesel variant, going all the way up to INR 63 Lakhs for the top end petrol engined Evoque. Now, that much money puts the Evoque price tag much higher than the competition, but the tremendous road presence of the Evoque is said to be its biggest USP apart from its off roading cred.

Just saw the evoque entering the JLR showroom at Worli (MUMBAI).

today morning saw the teaser ad for Evoque on CNBC i think! For me, it was the first. Looks like the launch process has started!

What an amazing vehicle . I remember James May testing it on Top Gear and it did amazingly well off road for a life style vehicle .
Although most of the people who buy it will never take it off road but its still great to know that if the time calls for it you have the machine to take it on .

Its like owning a nice watch which says water resistant upto 200 meters . You know you are enever going to take it to such depts but still its comforting to know that when you get wet in the rain it wont go kaput :p

I just saw an Evoque ad in Bloomburg UTV. Is the launch around the corner?

The website has been updated with details of the Evoque. Diesel 5 door and petrol 3 door; PURE/ PRESTIGE/ DYNAMIC trim levels, 17 and 18 inch wheels.

Thought of buying one, but wifey gave an injunction against spending money on cars for this Financial Year.:p

Worry not. Even with a 6 feet on the front seat, the rear has enough room for another 6'3" with legroom to spare! How do I know this? Well check out the 1st Episode of the Fifthgear Season 20, telecast on 15th October.
In the team test, the minimum score it received was 9 out of 10 with the highest being 9.5 giving it a total of 27.5 out of 30!
This is one of the most desirable car on sale anywhere in the world for me.

If launched at 50L plus ex-showroom , I doubt it will hurt the other players much. Isn't it a little too expensive given the 2L engine and the overall size of the SUV? Also the lack of a spare wheel ( source: ACI review) is a glaring omission for our country and that too in a SUV.
