1.5 lakh rupee car, now from Kandaa motors

Pune company Kandaa motors, a major part supplier to Tata and Maruti will be coming out with a 1.5 Lakh rupee car within 12-18 months. The car will have 800-1000cc engine. Looks like the below 2 lakh segment will be hotting up for the Second time in 20 years.

I was wondering what happened to those! I saw some pretty nice looking bikes by the Chinese company (i think Lifan) and I was all geared up to get a cheap Rs. 25,000 sports bike that looks like the busa but nothing happened :(

Yes. I have seen that 40K cruiser from Kanda Motors. It looked neat though my expectation were quite low.

I think, if I am not mistaken, one of the automags even tested the bikes. They felt that the quality level was nowhere near what it should be. The disc brake on the front had a warp and it was failing to engage, the footpeg on the front and the brake pedal had a yawning gap and such issues... Their final take was that the dealer was more eager and helpful than the manufacturers to sort out the issues.

If that was indeed the bike the Kanda Motors made then I am not very optimistic about any car that these people will make. IMO closer to 2L they go harder it will be for them to compete as M800 with its value offering will eat them up raw.

The Kanda Thunder 100 (as their pseudo cruiser is known) is quite popular amongst people living in the outskirts of Pune. I dont know why, but we can see several of them in our surrounding industrial areas. Where is the Kanda plant located? Maybe Pune BHPians can pop over for a visit & give suggestions, if any. Is it a totally Indian design or some chinese collaboration (copy?) ?
