Yes, Laura vRS is being displayed at the auto expo. Saw the images on news channel. Any idea of the specs?

200 BHP, FSI Petrol. The biggest engine of Skoda Yet. (Correct me if i am wrong) 17 Inch wheels.

God how I hope they bring that car here WITHOUT screwing around with the suspension, compression ratio and safety features! That sounds like a great recipe for a really decent car for India.

I quote from Skoda's website:

===
The engine has a performance of 147kW (200hp), reaching a maximum torque moment of 280Nm at 1800 - 5000 rpm.

The fastest and most powerful of the Skoda models serially produced to date, the sedan version has acceleration from 0 - 100 Km/h in 7.3 sec, and readily reaches a speed of up to 240 Km/h.
===

Sounds good to me! ;)

Also read this article on the OUTSTANDING fuel economy of that 2 litre FSI engine!

Here's the link:

Unbelievable! :)

Thats sounds good but this sounds even better..

440BHP from our Indian Octy possible by phase 3 remap costing around 6 lacs.
Petes is this available?

Available it may be, but somehow I just don't trust that the cars that are built here are built to the same standards as the same models made in Europe, and I'd be very hesitant to put that kind of power into an Indian-made chassis.

They quoted 26kmpl or so with teh Turbo Petrol one and you know how much people get?

compression ratio is not gonna come here unchanged!they have to change it for the appaling fuel out here!
so just keep dreaming about that....the suspension is gonna have skoda's legendary ROUGH ROAD suspension thats done wonders on the octavia, laura and the superb so there might be a firm but pliant ride(no problems i guess????)....
the bhp rating will come down to somewhere between 160-180 bhp....and if its safety you're talking about its skoda....so no skimping on that.....but then again its INDIA so all the features wont be present(lesser airbags, and some small electrical goodies like cruise control will be left behind)
its the same bulletproof engine that does duty in the golf gt(fsi) and coupled with the remarkable path breaking and flawless DSG dual clutch transmission it should be THE car to have this side of 20 lacs

26 kmpl in euro driving conditions at a constant 40 kmph without any wind resistance.....so forget that......realistically it should give about 7-8 kmpl in real world city conditions

Frank,Dont know much about the Octavia and Superb,but the Laura I test drove had pathetic suspension set up for slow city speeds.The ride quality is what you expect from a car meant to go well around corners-stiff,but it is not at all pliant or soft.There is too much noise filtering through at low speeds,especially on cement roads which just does'nt give you a feeling of luxury and class.

Yesterday I saw a new spanking Red Laura vRS. No pics because no cam-phone.

Same vRS batch on front grill and rear along with a spoiler and rectangular exhaust.
