Snaps posted below are of the cracking of paint on my 9 month old ford ikon flair that i have taken delivery of on 30th march 2005 from the shaman prabhadevi showroom. Cracking of paint is also visible on the boot below the spoiler which is very diffficult to capture on camera.
I have had issues with the suspension since a while now and recently even the rear bearings of the car seem to ave given way.
Can anyone suggest what they think ford could do about this, i have had a telephone conversation with their executive and mailed them the snaps as well.
They insisited to send the car to their workshop to just click snaps which they could forward to ford, in reply to which i have mailed them the snaps.
what could i possibly do next?:confused:

Do you have teflon coating? The teflon coating on my Esteem cracked due to excessive exposure to the Indian heat. If not, I am worried about your car being repainted after factory despatch.
When the Ikon was originally launched, there were a lot of complaints about the paint of a particular colour (I think it was that metallic greyish one) cracking. I would have presumed Ford had it sorted long back.

no it dosn't have teflon, what do you think ford could do to resolve this?
from where i see it they will most prob. offer a repaint, but won't that drop the value of my car, and why should i have a repainted car for no fault of mine?

Your best solution would be a repaint job. And get an entire body job done, not just the affected parts. Ford owes you this.

Imageshack has a resize option on the home page. Else use any photo editor to resize.

it could be a manufacturing defect. when a part of the car gets painted, it is taken to an "oven" like thing so that it dries evenly. this car probably didn't go through that process correctly. i could be wrong.
you should probably take it further and ask them to paint the door handles, rear view mirrors as well (if you haven't done so already)
If your entire car is repainted, it wont affect resale and nobody will be able to know in case othe job being done in the "oven" paint shop. Press for a full repaint
yeah bro.. ford owes you this.. ask them to repaint the entire car.. come on man its only 9 month old...
just called the shaman executive a while back, and now it appears that they don't have access to the internet to view the snaps, so they will get back to me only by tommorow.

i had the same problem in my ikon, cracks appeared in the hood of the car, and small patches of arnd a cm in diameter started to scrape off. Got it repainted again, wonder how long tis is gonna last...

how old was your car when you got it repianted, and how long has it been since you got it done?
did it require a lot of effort to get the car repianted, and who was it repianted by?

paint only cracks on cars with improper accident repair jobs,there is a possiblity that your car might have been damaged during shipping when it was brought to the dealer for sale and the dealer might have repaired and sold it.
this reminds me of the case when a delhi ford dealer sold a 1.5 yr used and refurbished mondeo as new car and the owner after traces of rust and wear were found in car got the checked by a independent engineer and found the truth,the owner sued ford in a chennai court and won the case.

Mine was a 2000 model, and the paint started to peel off in the hood arnd late'04/early'05, and i got the new paint job done in sep'05, its good till date.
Manson - i never had a problem till date , you have seen the car - but i had TPC treatment done as soon as i took delivery ..maybe that helped !
